Unfortunately, that’s a “feature” of the new app. I’m not sure how it deletes photos from email, though. I understand how it does from the portal and all apps that the photos are on.

i wish deleting on phone would only delete on phone - a minor inconvenience, but one i imagine could be easily rectified

My phone used to do just that but here recently (past couple weeks) when I delete from the phone it also deletes from the computer.  Plus, when viewing photos from the phone, I could hit "download photos" and any photos not showing the list would then show.  Some changes happened and not for the good.

Not capturing photos as quick as before either.  We were up near the camera for 3 hours and only 2 photos came through.

    Ricky,

Unfortunately for those of us who prefer that removing photos from a device removes them only from that device, the new app's method of handling that isn't our preference. Apparently, it's necessary for the new download method.

The app update doesn't have anything to do with how your camera functions. Have you checked the portal (my.spartancamera.com, Camera Management) to see whether the "missing" photos are there and just not on the app or whether there are gaps in the numbers (indicating that pics were taken but not sent)?

    Hey Elizabeth,

the new app may not directly affect camera functions, but I'm not sure it's coincidence that that immediately after the new app came into play, myself and others stopped receiving selected photos. For me, its random - both scheduled pics and motion activated pics. the camera may be sending them, but they're not all getting received by me. for a while, photos from late night were missing. recently pics from mid day. this weekend, I've been receiving all scheduled pics. from best i can tell, all is working at the camera end, and service provider signal always reads strong.

Are the photos that are missing from the app missing from the portal or are they on the portal? That will tell you whether it’s the camera or something else.

I’m running over 30 cameras and I am not seeing missing photos except from a couple of cameras with lousy signal that have missed sending photos from the time I put them out three of four years ago.

Clear storage/cache, uninstall/reinstall app, clear storage/cache again before getting into app. (If this is Android.)

missing from the portal and the app - if sent, never received.

I've got my one camera set to send me a photo every two hours. today it missed noon and two. I walked down to the camera today about 1:30, but no pic sent of me being there. Signal strength read full. No misses Saturday. Missed 10am noon, and two on Friday. probably is just coincidence that this started when the new app came online, but i haven't figured things out yet.

It is a coincidence. Are there gaps in the picture numbers on the portal that indicate that the camera took the missing pics but didn’t send them? Are you using a name brand class 10 full size 32G or less SD card that is 80-100 MB/sec? When was the last time it was formatted in the camera.

The app has no control over the camera other than sending requests to change settings, format SD card, send HD photo or video. It can’t make the camera send or not send like what seems to be happening to you.

never thought of checking pic numbers (thanks), though I did think I'd bring the card in to see what's on it. Yes, there are missing numbers - hence pics that were taken, but not sent/received. Card is a SanDisk Ultra Plus 32g. I reformatted it sometime since the first of the year. I ordered (and received) a new card to try (same card type) - maybe this week. I've also wondered about my verizon 'card'. even tough I read full strength signal whenever ii check, i know that replacing these card in a cell phone can sometime rectify issue one might be having.

My issue is a small one compared to so many other things going on in the world, but fun to try to figure it out.

    Appreciate your help - thanks

You didn’t mention the camera model, but do you have the option to format the SD card from the app? If so, it won’t hurt to try that.

A flaky SIM can cause problems. If it’s not a hassle to swap it, that’s not a bad idea. If the camera is on your phone plan, you need to get Verizon to change the ICCID.

Thank you for putting this into perspective. It is a first-world problem but I understand the annoyance. I have a couple of older Verizon 4G cameras that don’t send every pic but our camp is in a poor Verizon signal area. My phone doesn’t have signal sometimes. I just don’t run those cameras in critical (security) locations.
