1 GB 3 month data plan

My new billing cycle begins tomorrow. I changed from the monthly 500 MB plan to the 3 month 1 GB plan. I received a confirmation email and see where this is not reversible. Do I receive 1 GB of data for each of the 3 months or 1 GB total for the 3 month period? This will determine if I need to change back before it becomes effective.
