GoLive 2 solar cable connector

The connection will be waterproof when the panel is plugged in to it. I don't let the cable dangle under the camera and haven't had any issues with it getting unplugged. The GoLive2 needs a different sized plug than the GoLives, it's longer, and the adapter for the 2's doesn't have the threaded collar on it.

There is a threaded female collar on the cable (marked GoLive2 cable). If you connect the solar cable to the camera, the collar just dangles on the cable because there’s nothing on the camera to thread it on.

Was there an adapter in the box with the cable? Is this a Spartan solar panel?

No adapter. Yes, it’s a Spartan solar panel. She bought the GoLive2 and got a GoCam as part of the holiday promotion. It seems as if the threaded post on the camera is missing. Hard to imagine my GoLive solar cable plugs in camera and is held snugly in place when you thread the collar on but her GoLive 2 has nothing on the camera to snug the collar on.

She also bought the solar kit at the same time (1 order for all).

The GoLive2's don't have the threaded plug, that threaded plug is only on the Ghosts and original GoLives.

Ok, but makes no sense to me. Spartan puts a collar on every cable even though there’s nothing to thread it on? What about the adapter you asked about earlier? There was no adapter in the box. I’m going to let her make the decision as to whether to keep the GoLive2. I don’t like the fact the cable is not able to be secured on camera. My GoLive solar cable with threaded plug and collar work beautifully and just makes sense.

The GoCams never had the cable either and with the longer plug it really isn't an issue with the GoLive2's. I actually have some plugs for the GoLives that don't have the threaded end and have not had an issue with those either.

You asked whether there was an adapter in the box. There was not. She ordered a GoLive2 solar kit. It came with a cable just as my GoLive did. I don’t think we need an adapter. Not sure what it’s for unless a different application. The difference between her GoLive2 and my GoLive is the fact I can snug the collar (slides along cable) after plugging the cable into the camera on my GoLive. You can push in and pull out the connector on her GoLive2 at will. There is a collar that slides along the GoLive2 cable, just nothing to thread it on. Just hangs on cable after it’s plugged in. I trust what you’re telling me, it just seemed like a great common sensed idea on the GoLive. For the collar to just hang on the cable after pushing in the plug on the GoLive2 just seems pointless. It may or may not come unplugged on the GoLive2 but I’m certain my GoLive will not be inadvertently unplugged. It can’t when the collar snugly secures plug.

The GoLive2 requires a longer plug than the GoLives do so Spartan used to supply the same solar panel for both and an adapter about 6" long that screwed on to the end of the panel and then would connect to the camera. If there is no batteries in the camera and she plugs in the panel does it show external power? It sounds like there might be a panel specifically for the GoLive2 now.

Is there a solution, my cable is falling out. Not sure what is causing it, have a possum hanging around.

Are you using a Spartan cable? They usually fit pretty snug. What is your camera model? You can try looping the cord up and over the top the of the camera and see if that helps.

Yes, this is the cables that came with the external battery and solar kit. GL-M6Eb-309162. I think the external battery connector screws in. I live 1.5 hours from the camera. Besides this, the camera is working awesome.

I believe that's a GoLive2 so the external plug doesn't screw on. Does the camera show the external battery when it's connected? The newer plugs don't need it but the older ones would need a longer adapter to connect to the camera, how long have you had the battery kit?

Good Morning - only about a month. We leave the feed and leave the cameras out all year.  I might superglue it. Thoughts?

I don't think I'd super glue, maybe zipties. Does the camera show solar/external power on the app when you have it connected?

Yes, I have 5 options: I am running AA, Solar, and External Battery - what is the best setting?

    Thanks
