Do I need an SD card?

Camera seems to work fine without an SD card. Is there some reason I need to put one in?

  Yes you do, the SD card does more than just save the photos and videos. It may be ok for a while if you only get pictures but it will eventually cause problems especially if ever want to get videos.

  It is only sending thumbnails. If you ever want the HD photo or video (if set to photo + video), those will not be available because the camera has nowhere to save them. Also, things like setting updates may not work and firmware updates definitely won’t because the camera has nowhere to download the firmware file.
