Sounds like a memory card issue. Either bad or incompatible card or possibly the card is full and overwrite isn't turned on in the camera settings. Look at the online portal and see if the pictures are numbered in order or if they all have the same number.

The photo numbers are in sequence. Ive only used 2 gb of a 16 gb card.

Are there any gaps in the picture sequence on the portal?

    What phone are you using?

What model camera? GC-what? I’m asking because the behavior you describe (request not being honored until after the next scheduled event) is what I’d expect when real time is off (for old 3G models) or not available (ATTxb and all 4G models) and there haven’t been any motion-triggered photos.

More info for Johnny’s questions. What brand, class (4, 6, or 10) SD card? Did format the SD card in the camera? (The glitches with thumbnails and photos sound like an SD card problem.)

The photo numbers are in sequence. Ive only used 2 gb of a 16 gb card. Thumbnails show up as consecutive even numbers, with no breaks. Video requests fill in the odd numbers next to its respective thumbnail. And i am using an LG X venture android phone.

The camera is a 4g-uscc (5g compatable per Spartan rep). And honestly, not sure of card type

Are you using an Android or Apple phone? Which rep said the camera was 5g compatible?

That camera is not capable of real time commands. When you request an HD photo or video or setting change, that won’t happen until AFTER the next time the camera contacts the server. That may be to send a photo (motion-triggered, time lapse, or scheduled event) or a scheduled status report.

I recommend using scheduled events to get the camera to check in every few hours. Mine check in at 3-hour intervals, except instead of 6 AM, they check in at 7 AM so I have time to request photos/videos from pics that came in overnight.

Have you checked the portal to see whether all the pictures (thumbnails, and HD if you requested them) are there?

These cameras are 4G only, but 5G isn’t going to be available for a long time in most places, especially less urban areas. The transmitters have to be no more than about half a mile apart. Think about that in rural areas, where we currently use towers that are miles apart.

Johnny...as stated above, it is an LG X venture android phone. I dont recall the reps name...just giving you info he gave me at time of purchase. Honestly, i dont care what generation of data it uses as long as it works. And for the first 800 or so photos it has worked fine and as expected. Now not so much. But if i drive out and turn the camera off and back on, im pretty sure it will work. Convenient for the 50 mile round trip, but once the camera is 300 miles away from me logic would dictate that it wouldnt be so much.

I guess i do need to clarify though...these partial downloads and failed requests are coming at the time of the events are schedule. Scheduled photo comes through, but requested data starts to download but stops short. I check the log and it will give me several (10-20) of these failure codes.

I have had the camera long enoigh to understand how it processes...this is just a stumper to me.

I guess the best way to try to figure this one out is to make a phone call and talk to someone directly.

Sorry for offering suggestions. There’s no way to know you’d done that. It wasn’t clear from your first post because you seemed surprised or something that the your request came through after a scheduled event. I did not understand what you meant.

I’m still confused because I can’t tell whether the pics are on the portal but not making it to the app. I think that’s what’s happening. If so, the problem is between the server and the app, not related to the camera at all.

I’ll leave it to Johnny to sort this out.

Sorry, I missed where you posted what the phone was. You don't delete pics from the phones gallery by any chance do you? Partial downloads can also be caused by a shortage of storage space, what's your purge set at? If it's at an extended period of time try shortening it to 3 or 5 days. A weak cell or wifi signal can cause that as well. Is the cameras firmware up to date? If you would like me to look at  things on the portal just email me your log in information for the online portal, send it to johnny.lockburner@sprtancamera.com

The requested downloads are not making it to either when the dont send. Regular event photos, motion photos, successful requests are making it to both the portal and the app. Everything is good until it is no longer good.

When its not good...a photo comes through app. I see it. I request hi res or video. At the next scheduled event time, a new pic comes through. App tries downloading my request and stops. Log says parent image doesnt exist. Next event/motion photo comes in. App tried to download previous request...same things happen.

Then on another day all is good. Never receive the previous requests made but will receive new requests upon the next communication with camera.

All photos minus failed request photos are viewable and correct in the portal.

Seems to be a glitch somewhere.

Sorry for my frustration...i hate writing everything. But in todays impersonal tech world, its easier to get someone at a keyboard than it is on a phone.

Email the info like I said and maybe I can find something. I can also pass along certain information to someone that can look and see if there's other errors on the server side.

Just to update this topic we found a corrupt video file that seemed to be causing the problems. Hopefully that takes care of all the issues.
