Your best bet is to contact tech support and voice your complaints to them. They may have suggestions for setting changes, as well.

I’ve called a couple times. They know of the issue and do not currently have a solution for updating the app to fix it.

Okay. I’m not sure why you thought anyone here would have a different answer and you didn’t mention that you’d talked to them.

The two of us who respond to questions most frequently are members of the camera test team, not regular Spartan employees, so we typically have less information than real tech support.

    BTW, iOS or Android?

I think you've been dealing with Lynn, she's working on it.

Eswoope- I reported earlier that I spoke with someone on a previous post. I posted this so others know of the issues when they come searching. Paying $3/month for a app that has not been developed for the latest iOS is BS. I have 70+ credits.

You obviously know that you’ve talked to them, but to expect anyone else to remember or know that is unrealistic.

Apparently, you were asking a rhetorical question. A more useful post might have been to reply to your original post with an update that the problem still hasn’t been fixed. That would have brought your post to the top (again) and it would have showed up in the search (but one thread with all the info) instead of in two posts or maybe even only this one without the background info.

Sorry. Your worried about a more useful post but a more useful app would have saved both of us from talking to each other on here. Again, it’s BS they released that to early and are still taking money for it. I hope it gets resolved quickly.

The new app was released when it was necessary to release it to handle changes in the overall system. They are still working on it and continue to release updates. Sometimes problems, especially ones that affect only a few users, can be hard to identify and correct but they are trying.

Yes, there are some glitches that they are working on. I, too, hope that those are resolved sooner rather than later.

If you are getting your data from your carrier (or AT&T Buy-A-Session) rather than from Spartan, you do have the option of using Auto rather than the app and it won’t cost anything. All those premium credits that you have will be there for later.

I am running three iOS devices (although I don’t use one of them very much). The two devices that I use most frequently are both running iOS 12.3.1. I’m not sure that problems with the app are related to the version of iOS, though. (I am a programmer, but not THAT kind of programmer.)

So a more accurate, informative, and searchable subject for your thread would be “iOS app still not downloading photos unless app is open”, if you truly care about people being able to search and find useful information.

(BTW, the photos are downloading properly on my two iPads without the app being open, but my old Android phone is a different story. As I said earlier, when things work properly on most devices but not on all, it can be a challenge to figure out what is causing the problem so that it can be fixed.)

I am running 12.3.1 also on a iPhone XS Max. Support claimed the issue was how the app was not compatible with the newer iOS.

App is still doing this. No help from spartan. I’ve downloaded the app and gave access to my cameras onto 4 other peoples phones and 2 tablets both android and apple and none work like it should. You still have to open the app and stare at it while photos download each time. I was hoping this last maintenance update would fix the issue or maybe the latest app update would solve it. Spartan dropped the ball again after they admitted issue. What gives? Any idea of plans to get this fixed or should I part ways with them now?

I'm sure your tried all these things I'm about to suggest but we've got to start somewhere. What version app are you using? I think there was a new version released a few days ago. Make sure download only when on WiFi is turned off and auto download is turned on in the app settings. I'm not sure about apple phones but on Android you can go into the battery settings and turn off the power savings for the Spartan app. Sometimes you can also check off to keep the app running in the background.

I’m running the app on three iPads, two that I use daily. I’m not seeing this unless I let the device sleep for several hours.

in the device settings, make sure background refresh Is on for the app.

We just downloaded these apps to all devices. 2.6.3.15 is what I’m currently on right now. App refresh is on and WiFi off. Every device owned by different people is doing this. I talked to spartan months ago and they said they knew about it happening and promised to fix the issue but nothing. It started immediately when the new app was released earlier this year

I just deleted every camera from the app and re entered each camera one by one. That also didn’t fix the issue.

That's not going to do it, it's got to be something with the way the app is reacting with the phone. You can try deleting the app and then reinstalling it, then do a force stop and clear the cache for the app (just the app not your entire phone) and see if that makes a difference. Make sure you do it in that specific order. If you're not worried about losing any pictures you can clear the data as well. Just becareful with the clear data because it could wipe out all the app pictures on your phone.

I’ve deleted the app multiple times trying it different ways to no avail.

If you aren't 100% positive you've done it in these exact same steps I would give it a try, Also what's your purge set to? The problem with iOS devices and some Samsung is that they prioritize things for you and don't always allow you to have full control of what is running in the background and what isn't. Sometimes other apps that are downloaded will take priority. You can have two phones that are exactly the same but will operate differently based on what else is on the phone. A lot of times the phones will turn off auto download based on battery life left as well. You've been having this issue long enough that I think we can eliminate the battery level as the cause. Does your phone ever download on it's own?

Are you able to clear cache on a iphone like your saying?

It may randomly pick up a picture here and there but mostly only if it sends within seconds of putting the app into the background. If much longer than I have to download them every time the app opens. It always downloaded them before this latest and greatest app came out earlier this year.

Also, I can get a notification that a pic was taken but the app doesn’t download them. So I can get hundreds to thousands of notifications a day but you still have to open the app and give it time to download each photo. It’s nothing like what it use to be. I prefer to have notifications off and only allow badges on the app so you can see how many pics were taken. It also doesn’t disturb you so much that way. But it won’t download now so the badges are either zero or only wherever you allowed it to get before you closed the app again.
