I updated the FW on my two Vs OTA on 5/27/2019 and the FW update worked properly on both. I think it's unlikely that the wrong FW is on the web site.

The app is showing the same FW completed but the old FW date?

Do you have overwrite turned on in the settings? It's showing zero space left on the SD card.

    Steve,

I was asking about the app, although I don’t expect it to show anything different. This is from one of my Vs.

Should the firmware update file for a manual update have a files extension on "bin"? Heading out to this camera in a day or two and I just downloaded the firmware file from Spartan, but the file extension is "ota".

Just wanted to make sure, It's 200 miles to my cameras, I figured it would be a good idea to put the firmware on an extra SD card just in case. I want to make sure I get the correct file.

That’s a great idea. I usually do that and have it on a portable computer, together.

My crystal ball is a non-functional demo unit.

Don’t feel bad. I am forever misplacing things. I have my own personal black hole.

I put things in safe places all the time and they’re safe even from me.

I found my new SD cards. Johnny, Elizabeth could either of you give me any tips on updating the firmware on the GC-V4GB? I haven't manually updated the firmware on either of my GoCams. Are there any gotchas I need to know about? I'm heading 200 miles west in the morning, IF it doesn't rain...

As long as there's no number in parenthesis after the firmware name on the SD card then you should be fine. Just be sure you loaded the firmware for your exact camera model on the clean SD card. Also bring an SD card with the update on it for each camera. If you are leaving the SD card in the camera after the update format the card after the update is complete.

I believe I did. I think from what I have read that the GC-V4GB should have a menu item to update the firmware. Once again, the camera is 200 miles away, so I THINK it does based on what I've read. What has me concerned is if it won't boot to the menu. Is there a procedure to update the firmware without booting to the menu, or am I mis/un informed?

It should have the update option in the menu. If it does not boot to menu then turn the camera off and then press and hold the playback button. While holding the playback button turn the camera to setup and when you hear the beep release the button and then just give it a quick press and release, it should update then.

In addition to what Johnny says, when you press the playback button then turn it on, it will show “No image” or something similar. When it does that, release the playback button, then press/release again. I’ve always waited for “No image”, not paid attention to the beep.

The best way to do it is to let the camera come up, press the Menu button, and on the third tab, scroll down to FW update.

You may want to bookmark this page. The instructions for both FW update methods are there.

Do make absolutely sure that there are no spaces, parentheses, etc., in the file name. It’s just letters and numbers and either .OTA or .BIN extension.

Ok, I get nothing when I turn the camera to either setup or on. I have tried holding down the play button and turning it to setup, still nothing. Anybody have any suggestions?

Is the green light blinking on the front of the camera?

    No lights, no nothing.

Only thing I can suggest is to try different batteries but it sounds like you are going to have to send it in and have it looked at. Trying another memory card can't hurt either.

I’m using rechargeables, just checked the voltages individually and the were all at or just above 1.3 volts each. I also tried with my external battery. No luck there either. I’ve got another new memory card, I’ll give that a try.
