Verizon 3G & 4G game cameras getting blocked?

Yes Verizon is filtering the messages, it's not like there's someone there that's doing it it's all automatic based on their spam filters. It's not the fact that your cameras are Verizon, the problem is that the cell phone that you are using is, if you had an ATT cellphone you would be receiving the pics in your text messages. ATT has been doing this same thing off and on for the past few years and now Verizon is doing it. These cameras were  never intended to be sending the pics to text message but with the email workaround address it's been working OK for a while. You also have the option of the app, every camera comes with a free month of app use so if you want to give it a try it won't cost you anything.

I remember AT&T filtering or well I thought they had capped the picture data size which was causing the problem back about 2 years ago & sure this is all rule based automation on the server level.

I don't know about not being designed to send pics to text, I remember HCO cameras had an option to send to and a send via MMS even a place to enter the phone numbers, you could send it a command to take a picture & send it via MMS. Now maybe the 4G cameras no longer have a native option for MMS and have gone solely SMTP. This was well since all the conversion is carried out on the carrier's email servers and sent via SMS when the phone registers on the network. The cameras used to handle MMS just fine. Over time the game cameras have gotten away from that but, the marketing has stayed the same. Then you have all these youtube.com videos that describe this neat little trick, how to email your cellphone a picture via MMS. It's a slippery topic......

I only made a post here to clarify that Spartan IS doing something about it as much as they can. Spartan's hands are somewhat tied and her efforts are more of a courtesy to her customers than anything else.

There may come a day when sending via MMS to our cellphones will no longer be an option, however I'd say gun laws should be more of a concern than whether or not we can have an automated picture of Bambi sent to our our phones. What's the purpose if we can't even own a gun? A little perspective....

Thanks for letting me know what's up with everything.

Just want to clarify that it doesn't matter what Gocam that you are using (Verizon, ATT, Bluegrass, US Cellular.....) They are all working OK and sending the pictures to the portal/app, the issue is when the Spartan server sends the photos to Verizon cell phone text messages that they are being blocked. Here is a copy and paste from the GoCam manual, this is from an ATTxb manual from probably 2-1/2 years ago

destination email address. This may be either a regular email address or a
device email address in the carrier’s picture email format (e.g.,
    5555551212@vzwpix.com or 5555551212@mms.att.net). Note: While
you can use your phone number email address, that is no longer
recommended because some carriers have begun blocking some MMS
messages and senders, which can result in your not receiving pictures from
your camera. Spartan Camera does not guarantee the delivery of emails.

I was having the same issue with my spartan AT&T camera not sending pictures to my verizon phone so I setup a forwarder with my gmail account and now I get the pictures to my phone again.  Here are my steps if it helps anyone:

Spartan settings send photo to email@gmail.com

gmail settings: > filters and Blocked Addresses > create new filter > From noreply1@hcowireless.com, check has attachment. < click Continue > Forward it to: cellnumber@vzwpix.com  or add forwarding address if you haven't yet. Click Update filter.

    Hope it helps.

carr0406, that's great to hear. I've suggested that to a few people to try so I'm glad it's possible. I used to be able to do that but for some reason I can't anymore.

Thanks for the very detailed instructions. I’m going to test that later today or sometime tomorrow.

    carr0406,

Thank you for the reminder of this. I suggested that people to send to gmail and forward but hadn't compiled instructions. I had to use slightly different steps than you listed, but your information was a huge help!

I've taken screen shots and am hoping to put together something that documents this so people can do it.
