Blank screen

My Verizon GC-V4Gb screen is on but blank. Camera has been in the woods since I bought it July 2018. It still takes and sends pics but the setup screen is blank so I can’t see any information. Firmware up to date. SD card is good and pics deleted. New batteries installed with same results. Tried a different SD card with same results. What next?

    Well I jinxed myself. Now the camera will not turn on at all.

    Does the green light on the front blink at all when in set up or the on position

    It did and took a pic. I turned it off for awhile and turned it back on now it will not do anything at all. No lights. No beeps. No pics. Nothing.

    I would take the batteries out and leave it turned on over night. Put the firmware on an SD card and try and do a manual update in the morning. Here's the link to the firmware downloads and instructions. You want to do the update for cameras that don't have the update firmware in the menu

    Ok Johnny, I tried to save firmware on sd card and it didn’t work (error message about write protected) never tried it this way before.
    Took the batteries out over night. Put them back in this morning and the camera will come on but the screen is still lit up but blank. Camera beeps when pushing buttons. When set on setup the green light on front blinks rapidly. Set to camera to on the green light blinks couple times then quits.

    Check the little slide tab on the side of the SD card, maybe it slide to the lock position and that's why it's giving the write protected message.

    Yeah somehow the tab has slide halfway guess that was it. Put card back in camera now it will not turn on again

    Can’t try firmware update on card until tonight though. But camera is dead again

    OK, remove the batteries and leave it turned on for a while again, then turn it off and put in the SD card with the update on it and follow the steps for a manual update for a camera without the update in the menu. (turn to setup and hold playback button)

    Make sure when you load the firmware that it's just the file name(s) no number in parenthesis

    Just a question what makes the camera go dead like that and what does taking the batteries out for awhile do?
    The firmware file I saved last night says FW96650.OTA

    I have no idea what causes it, taking the batteries out and leaving it on drains all the power out of it, kind of like a reset. I'm hoping that the firmware update will fix whatever glitch the camera has. That file for the update looks correct.
