Dead camera?

Camera doesn't seem to be functioning.  If I turn it off, then back to Setup, the two boot images show up, then the screen goes blank and stays blank.

I tried the trick of removing the batteries and leaving the switch in the On position for 24 hours.  It was actually more like 3 days before I got back to it.  Same result.

I then tried the trick again but this time I had the latest firmware on the SD card, held down the Play button while turning it on to Setup.  It beeped at me this time, showed the boot images, then went blank again.

So is this thing just dead?

  Have you tried a different SD card? Have you tried different batteries? Four alkalines (two top, two bottom, left bank) are good for testing.

  What model camera? GC-what? 

  When did the camera quit working?
