Question regarding firmware update
Dear JohnnyD, Eswoope, William, or Other Knowledgeable Folks,
I have a GC-A4Gb ATT currently running in a local location with "Start-Stop" times set at 8PM and 8AM. Working fine and taking 150- 200 pics a night. The cam took its last picture around 7:30-8:00AM this morning just as my "Start-Stop" times are set.....working fine. A couple of days ago I noticed a recent firmware update has been made available since my last update in July. So later this morning I used the app and set it to update the firmware OTA.....the request is currently "Pending." I am assuming this evening when it takes its first picture of the evening the OTA firmware update will begin. Am I assuming correctly?
Had a second cam, same model, here at home last night. Tried the OTA firmware update with no success so I did a manual firmware update and it worked fine.
I have a third cam (same model) up a tree three states away that quit taking and/or sending pics on 9-10-2019, approximately two or three days after I turned it on. Hot battery and good signal, good SD card, 20' up a tree, on private land so not much chance of it being tampered with. Noticed a firmware update was recently made available (same one as I mentioned above) for A4Gb AT&T for the purpose of fixing interrupted AT&T service. I'll manually update the firmware in that cam next time I'm up there. Point of my post......I want to confirm the process I am using for the local cam in paragraph one of this post is the right process to follow before future attempts updating firmware OTA on out of state cams.
As Always, Your Assistance is Greatly Appreciated.......Thanks,
GT in Scott, Arkansas

The FW update should happen after the first picture. The next status report that you get after the FW update completes (check the command history) may or may not reflect the updated FW. Since you are dealing with pictures, it most likely will.
If you don’t have any scheduled events (either status reports or event pics) during the “quiet time”, you may want to consider adding some so that you can interact with the camera during the “quiet time”.
