i think you are going to have to contact tech support on this.

Auto is pretty much the same thing except that you enter your phone number with the picture mail suffix, @mms.att.net

However, some carriers are filtering picture mail. Verizon seems to have done it permanently. AT&T has had bouts of it.

Try putting either that picture mail address or an email address and see what happens.

I've been through this a few times with all my older cameras that I bought from Spartan in the early years. The original cameras I had, used to text an SMS picture. This did NOT use data. I used to "add a line, for $9.99" to my AT&T family plan. When the firmware was updated on my SR-1 cameras, you could no longer text the photo as an SMS. MMS became a requirement, which uses data, and you have to enter your number as xxx-xxx-xxxx@MMS.ATT.NET  You will need to acquire a new SIM card from AT&T, with the numbers 8901410xxxxxxxxx. Then, you go to ATT.COM/BUYASESSION and purchase a data plan. I either buy the 6 month $45 plan, or the $75 yearly plan. You may not get this answer as clearly as I just put it, if you speak to someone at HCO. I went through this with a few cameras in 2014/2015, so just passing along my experience. If I were you, I would inquire about upgrading your cameras. I recently was upgraded on 3 of my cameras to the new 4G models for $250 per camera. The new cameras have much better reception I find.

Adam, thanks. You’ve provided an excellent, detailed explanation. I haven’t dealt with one of those cameras in about 5 years so I didn’t remember the different SIM thing. I remembered text vs. data (those GoPhone text plans were a PITA) but not the nuances of the SIMs.

Travis, it wouldn’t be a good idea for anyone to post a phone number here. Adam provided a very thorough explanation.

You can get the SIM cards he’s talking about from Amazon, eBay, probably from Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and other stores. If you buy in a store, you want the Bring-Your-Own-Device SIM. On Amazon or eBay, be sure you get the larger SIM, not micro or nano.

You probably won’t have any luck trying to get SIMs from an AT&T store. They may not even know what session-based data is.

Thanks, Elizabeth.  I removed my references to phone.

I did go to another of my cams which IS a GoCam and tried the BuyaSession SIM.  It still didn't work.  I also went to another of my MMS cams and tried its SIM.  So I pulled my box out and noted I had a 4 year extended warranty, filed a claim and sent it off.

I'm sure it's hard for the camera companies to deal with the phone carriers and all their eccentricities, differences and biases.  I can only imagine how they have to negotiate pricing with them and technical requirements and restrictions.

It’s probably not a warranty issue, but definitely worth trying? Have you talked to anyone in tech support?

Oh, yes.  Two folks.  Was sent an update but still would not send a photo.  I have another just like this one and it is working fine.  In fact, I wish all the cams could still work like this, sending photos directly to our phones via text or even email instead of using apps.  I can still send commands via text to my other cam, too.  Sometimes we want to know what the weather is back home and just ask for a photo.  Also good to get a photo within the interval set in the camera between triggered shots.
