2 cameras not working..30 days and counting
I have 2 Verizon cameras, GC-G4Gb and GC-W4Gb. Bought one at the end of July, the other a month late. They both stopped sending pictures to the app 9/16. Up to that point both cameras worked flawlessly. I have been round and round with the tech department. Still no fix 30 days later. I am told it’s an issue with Verizon. Would a different carrier be more reliable? I asked about trading my cameras for some that actually work, and was told I could/should plan to pay a 15% restock fee. I’m extremely disappointed at this point.

I have only used the app. I didn’t even try to use text or email as I had read from the beginning that that option was not as reliable. Located in southern Maine. I have Verizon for cell phone service and their coverage area is best. Going to PA this weekend, will take them with me to see if by chance they will work there.

I can understand having a problem.. but, I think we will see the return visit to the moon figured out before anything is done to fix this. I have had not one single offer from Spartan to make this right. Instead, they want me to pay another 120$ to trade out the useless cameras I have. Not to mention the money wasted on data service... FYI...SpyPoint micro is 150$ at Cabela’s and also uses Verizon, and currently no issues!!

Jason Kieffer,
Verizon cameras?
Jason Jason,
Spartan and Verizon are still working on the problem. Apparently it’s a puzzle to Verizon. SpyPoint and Spartan probably use different communications components so there is something with the Spartan comm module that is causing problems in some areas. I’m running three 3G cameras, a Z4Gb, and a W4Gb, and a friend nearby is running two G4Gb and we aren’t having any problems.
I’m not trying to minimize the problems you are having. There are Verizon users in various parts of the country who are experiencing problems. It’s not just camera users, there are widespread phone problems, as well, if the outage maps are to be believed.
What are you being asked to pay $120 for? New models of the cameras you have use the same radio so they wouldn’t likely work any better or any differently.

Good news is my phone has and does work just fine. Glad you and your friend have a working cameras. I could not have been more impressed with these things for the first few weeks I owned them! I know there is a “list” of cameras that are NOT working, which leads me to believe there should be a list of cameras that do work. I simply asked for exchange of my G4Gb and W4Gb for a KNOWN reliable model..even if that meant using a different cell service. They’ll gladly trade them for a 15% fee..120$ is an estimated # based on 800$ for the cameras. These are not old cameras, one worked less than 30 days; the other about 45 days.. so both at this point they have worked for less time than they have been malfunctioning. I certainly understand that the same model cameras may most likely act the same. That is why I asked for a different model, if that’s what I should have in this area. I am assuming that I am not the only person in New England with these models..I am also assuming not everyone in the northeast is having these issues..I just simply want the thing I thought I had purchased...a set of working cameras.

I'm not familiar with a list of not working cameras or a list of working cameras. I'm not sure what you mean by that.
I agree that you should have working cameras. But I don't agree that either the G or the W are unreliable models. So far, I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe that they are less reliable than the Z or the A (the most common models sold, Z is Verizon, A is AT&T).
I hope tech support gets this problem resolved for you soon.

I got the “list” idea from the following paragraph from an email response from Spartan tech on 9/26:

Thank you for the information, we've added your camera info and location to the list that we are sharing with Verizon to find out why the connection issues are happening and will update you as soon as we can when there is a solution.
