Data Breakdown
Is there any literature on what uses data and what doesn't? Obviously pics and vids do. And smaller thumbnails/vids use less than larger. But with all the other options available, such as "scheduled settings" & "start and stop" times, do these alter data at all?
Examples....
-If I have 8 scheduled events not taking photos does that use more data than 4 scheduled events?
-What about changing those options throughout the day on "schedule a settings update". Can I change those multiple times a day without using data?
Simply trying to find a cut and dry guide line and minimize the bells and whistles if that saves data usage.

Anytime the camera has a communication with the server it uses data, larger thumbnails use more data than smaller ones, obviously HD images and videos will use even more data than a thumbnail picture. Sending status reports uses data as well as when you make a settings change or other request, although the settings updates will probably use the least amount of data.
I'm not sure what you mean by this -If I have 8 scheduled events not taking photos does that use more data than 4 scheduled events?

Ok thx.
Concerning the 8 scheduled events. Meaning I have them set to "send status report" vs "take photo". And it sounds like since I have it connecting 8 times to the server it's gonna use more data than 4 times....considering each time it connects it uses data.
Is there any measuring tool to know how much a "settings update" uses vs a small thumbnail?
I have no earthly idea how much data a settings update would use so trying to find something to compare it to.
Really appreciate your help.

Great thx. Once I figure out how much is being used per cam I will adjust and tweak as needed. I'm limiting trigger intervals right now because I don't want to use a ton of data just yet until I understand the data usage better.
Once data runs out on a cam and you renew it for another 3 months....does ONE picture basically start the process and that considers a start time and it expires 3 months later no matter how much it's used?
