Pictures Not Sent To Phone
I purchased a Spartan gocam GC-Z4Gb2 last week. The camera has a brand new SD card (not micro) and brand new batteries. The firmware status states it is utd as of 9/4/19. I originally had the camera mounted on top of my feeder which sent good pictures regularly to my phone. I decided to move my camera to a spot along a trail next to a scrape. I mounted the camera to a t-post and now I hardly ever get pictures sent to my phone. I had somewhere around 30 pictures (from the feeder mount) that were sent to my phone before I purged some I didn’t need. The camera says it’s taken 87 pics as of now so I know that there is quite a few not being sent. I did perform a hello test from the new placement on the post without any problem the picture sent to my phone. I watched a doe walk in front of it last night and I still have yet to receive that picture. Service says 5 bars on the camera and 5 bars on my phone (both Verizon). I set up some pictures to be taken 3 different times through the day today which I read could help from a previous thread. Wondering if the metal t-post or weather is interfering with the signal?!

I’ve never changed the sd card. It’s brand new. This only started happening when I moved the camera from the top of the feeder to a t post. That distance is about 20 yards between the two spots so I wouldn’t imagine that the cell service would be the problem. I’m going to replace the sd card to the one you recommended in a previous thread. But as I stated before the camera was working just fine before I moved it to a spot 20 yards away

Okay. I just tried that and I still have 3 pending actions all from this morning. So for some reason I believe this is a communication issue between the two. I will try moving the camera again, take a hello and see where we’re at then. Should I mount it to a different structure rather than the metal t post?

Pulled the card from the camera. It had been taking photos the entire time. I had 104 photos and only received 40-50 of them to my app. 4-5 bars of Verizon service the whole time. I replaced the card to the kind y’all recommend and performed a hello test. The photo was sent to my phone before I could climb in my stand. After the hunt I walked in front of the camera two separate times and neither photo was sent to my phone. I’m at a complete loss of what the problem is and beginning to get a little frustrated.

Have you checked the antenna to be sure it’s snug, but not too snug, and not wonky in any way? Antenna problems are less likely than other kinds of things, but I’ve had an antenna that looked perfectly fine until I looked at it closely and it had quit sending while we were doing a bunch of work in front of it then sent one picture when we went back to see what the problem was (after I realized there was a problem) and the antenna was just a little “off”.
The problems you are having really seem like they could be signal related and the antenna can affect that.
It also wouldn’t hurt to clean the contacts on the SIM (if this isn’t a Ghost with the inaccessible SIM) by rubbing them with a pencil eraser or against your pants, blowing gently in the SIM slot. I don’t think it’s a SIM problem, but this is just one more thing that you can try.

Yes, I have “tweaked” the antenna through all of this dilemma. Slightly snug and turned it different quarter turn directions (which I would not think would matter). I moved the camera back to the original spot that I mounted it to see if that would make a difference.
So you say this is likely “signal related problems”. Even though I have had at least 4 bars the entire time? Not quite sure what you mean. But as far as antenna problems that seems likely. When I opened the box at work, I tried to register it there inside our building. I never could get service which I thought was weird. I only got it once I went outside so I didn’t think much of it.
I received one random picture earlier this afternoon that actually sent to my phone (old, off brand class 4 sd).

Signal fluctuates. I don’t know if it’s signal strength or a connection issue or an SD card issue, but something is preventing the camera from sending pictures consistently.
If your building has a metal roof or lots of metal framework, you may not get good signal inside.
My Verizon phone has no signal at all or maybe 1X at our camp but my three Verizon 4G camera’s all get 5 bars signal. I have a couple of V4G that get 2 or 3 bars and they are not consistent at times.

Did you format the card in the camera? If you'd like you can email me your portal log in information and I'll take a look at things for you. My email is johnny.lockburner@spartancamera.com

Never formatted the card. Didn’t know what that meant or what it would do besides erase all my pictures.
I moved my camera back to my feeder and am currently receiving what I believe to be all the pictures it’s taking. So it seems to be working now that I moved it back to the original spot. Again I had no idea that 10-15 yards would make a difference when it never showed anything less than 4 bars of service. If anything else seems to not work properly, I’ll be happy to send you the login info for you to look over. These cameras are a useful tool and we as customers expect them to be worth the time money and trouble. Again thank you for the help.
