Battery Life (P3 back to P5)

    Yes the fluctuation is normal, sometimes the batteries can recover slightly. Lithium don't give you much warning, when you see P3 you haven't got too much time. You may start missing night pics with the flash and also missing scheduled events.

    There isn’t a P4. Not sure why. When you have batteries on the cusp (right at 5.7, sometimes dipping barely below, sometimes resting and recovering to 5.7 or higher), you’ll see that shift between P5 and P3. P3 means 5.1, so it can actually indicate anything from 5.1 to right below 5.7.

    I have one that I put rechargeables in.  It flucuates from P3 to P1 but only drops to P1 at night.  I assumed this was because of the colder temps at night, but maybe it's the flash?

    It’s the flash. The flash uses more power.
