The last models that had that feature were the old original 3G models. In theory, you can do it using text commands with the current models by turning power save off and if the camera is on a data plan that supports texting, but I haven’t had any luck with it. Johnny will probably have more info for you.

If you’ll tell us what you need to take a picture for, we may be able to suggest a different way to accomplish what you need to do by using scheduled events or time lapse.

Craig, where are you getting your data from?

I'm using verizon service. In the gocams I have I could "take photo now" but with the ghost cam this isn't an option. I like to make the cameras take photos especially if I dont receive any pics in a few days, or if i see a photo right of way on my gocam then i like to take additional pics if there is an animal in front so i can hopefully get more images

If you are getting your data from Verizon directly (not through Spartan) then you should be able to request a picture. What you do is turn power save off in the camera settings through the app and wait for that change to update. Once it does text *500# to the cameras phone number, that should return you a picture. texting *501# to the camera should get you an immediate status report. If you don't have the cameras number it should be listed in your My Verizon account app on your phone. Just be aware turning power save off will impact battery life.

    Craig,

Use scheduled events to get the camera to sent pictures or status reports at specific times. That way, you know your camera will be checking in regularly even if nothing is happening.

Set your trigger interval to 0 so your camera will take pics as fast as it is able to. In general, you should not need to request a picture once you get one because if the animal is in front of the camera and moving, it should trigger the camera again.

You also may want to consider photo + video. The video often gives you good info.
