New Ghost Cam out of the box registration

New cam out of the box today.  Didn’t realize these only work with special spartan external power vs standard 6v.  Guess I’ll have to get that setup.  Also didn’t realize the SIM card preloaded so can only use spartan service, but have others using spartan service so will live with it  

When I first turned it on , it took 15-20 sec and had full ATT bars.   

Went to set it up and hit the registration option and it failed.   Now when it turns on it searches for service 2min or so then fails even locating service.   Says check the SIM card and restart.  The SIM card is inside the cam vs outside so can’t really check it. 

Not sure what to try next 🤔

    What Michelle says... If you purchased a data plan, did you get both a receipt and an activation email?

    Does the camera pass the Hello test? (Camera on/setup, press the Menu button, scroll to the fourth tab, down to Diagnostic, Hello test)

    Are you using a class 10 standard size name brand SD card that is 80-100 MB/s, formatted in the camera?

    Was following the set up instructions , entered the IMIE to add a cam and hit next So that’s Step 5 and it says go into set up and register the cam, nothing about a prompt to purchase a data plan

    Mine done the same thing , I had to finish setting it up then go and purchase a data plan . Then everything worked fine

    Went into the web site and purchased service , then it works.   It does not work as the instructions say, or didn’t for me.   If the instructions said in step 5 to go to the web site and purchase a data plan, the carry on with the registration steps and remove step 6, it works that way.

    Now on the external power, looks like the ghost cam has a power extender solar hookup vs external battery pack.

    It seems like you can get the total ghost package with the cam and extender in a bundle but could not find an option to buy it without the cam.   Got to a point where it seemed like it could bought for $55 but then asks for the cam type and data service and the full bundle price when I try to add only the extender to the cart. 

    theres a link to the 15w ghost extender on the battery pack for other cams saying it’s not for ghost cams click the link for the 15w ghost cam extender and the link does not work.

    Phil, I can't find the link for the Ghost panel and bracket only, will have to have someone look into that. Keep in mind that the Ghost is a 12 volt camera, not a 6 volt like the standard GoCam models.

    Right, from what I can tell there is no external battery option only the power extender or cable to a solar panel.

    Correct, there is no Spartan battery box for the Ghost yet, just the panel. With the built in rechargeable battery you can hook a panel right up to the camera without having to have a battery like the 6v GoCams.

    Looks looks like it takes two parts, the 15w panel and a power cord adapter.   Crazy the varying prices out there, the same panel is $67-$129 and the cable $20-$29 at varying places.  Hopefully spartan has them as site just isn’t showing them.

    They were on the site as a kit with the cable and bracket, hopefully they get the link fixed.
