GC-Z4Gb - camera keeps rebooting in setup
I had my camera out all year and the batteries dies late winter time. I recently got the camera and put in new batteries and the camera keeps rebooting in setup mode. I formatted the SD card and downloaded the correct FW update to the card and inserted back into the camera with the same result. I tried a new SD card (both are the recommended cards) and I got the same results.
I had another camera out as well that died and I replaced the batteries in that one and it's been fine. Completely stumped as to what the issue is. Any help for me?????

You appear to have done what’s recommended in this situation. However, it’s not clear whether you actually updated the FW or whether you just copied the FW to the SD card and stuck it in the camera.
I want to be sure that you had the FW on the SD card and were pressing the playback button when you turned the camera to setup. Then when the camera says there’s no image, you released the playback button and pressed it again. The screen should show progress with updating the FW.
You’ll want to either email support@spartancamera.com or call 770-582-0004 9 AM - 6 PM Eastern M-F to talk to someone in tech support.

You should not see the boot screen at all. You should have a black screen and then "No image". What you are describing tells me that the FW update is not working.
Just be absolutely sure with the camera off, you are holding Playback when you turn the camera to setup. If it's booting, something is wrong.

This is a real long shot, but I’m wondering if this could be switch-related.
If the camera is not under warranty:
- Remove batteries and SD card.
- Put a piece of tape across the switch and another across the cursor buttons to keep the buttons attached to the inside cover when you remove it.
- Unscrew the four tiny screws (one in each corner) holding the inside front cover in place.
- Spray electronics contact cleaner on the switch and move the switch back and forth rapidly several times.
- After the contact cleaner has dried, put four batteries (two top, two bottom, leftmost side of battery compartment) in the camera, as well as the SD card.
- Turn the camera to setup and see if it comes up properly, turns on properly, shuts off properly. If it doesn’t, repeat.
- Put everything back together.

Elizabeth - I just tried what you mentioned above and it stopped the constant restarting! Now it goes to the next screen, which is all black. It has a camera icon in the top left, a service indicator in the top right (with an x next to it) and battery indicator in the bottom right. I tried to hold the playback button and switch to setup again, but it still goes to this same new screen. Any additional thoughts???

I tried a new SD card once it was stopping at the other black screen. It now has updated and passed the hello test. I set it on my mantle and walked past it a couple of times and it's sent photos when it should!
Big shout out to Elizabeth and John for the help, it's greatly appreciated!!!
