Why would Spartan do this??? Question on replacement camera
OK - very perplexed and frankly not happy.
Have owned many Spartan cameras in the past - recently bought 2 goCams. I of these cameras did not take night pictures and sent faulty camera back. Spartan sending out new camera - get email this past Monday stating to click a link to change over Spartan data from faulty camera to new camera they are shipping out.
Who would click a link to register so called new camera prior to receiving new camera???? Who would do this?
So new camera actually ships Weds of this week and we received yesterday (Friday) afternoon. This morning I am unpacking new camera, everything checks out. Go back to email to confirm data plan change and after clicking link it states sorry link has expired.
I'm like you have got to be kidding me as this camera is used for security on our cabin where we have had 14 different folks charged past few years with criminal activity so we need this camera.
OK I think I will simply register the camera myself and eat the loss on a couple weeks of the data plan. Go to register camera, scan bard code and need to enter 20 digit ICCID number from SIM card. SIM card holder (looks like plastic credit card) is gone, not in pocket of black trifold brochure where it should be. Whoever at Spartan changed over data plan kept this plastic credit card with ICCID and IMEI info. on it. So now I need to find magnifying glass to read numbers off SIM card which they had placed in camera.
Registering camera on our Spartan app - enter all info and get error sorry that camera has already bee registered, try to take manual picture with camera and get 4 bars of service only to get "server error" message.
So now we are here it's Sat. morning - can drive up to our cabin to replace the faulty new camera we were originally sent. However now I can't since this new replacement camera they sent is useless until someone at Spartan sends us a new link to click on to convert the data.
Makes no sense at all!
Already bought a 3rd camera and now my head is spinning from this chaos! Why send an email with a link only to have that link expire prior to the customer getting the new camera to confirm the details.
I have no words of logic to offer. In fact I would have much rather simply deleted our old camera - eaten the cost of a couple of weeks of service rather to be in this cluster right now. I have my reservations if this is even going to work once I click a link whenever I should get that email as no one is working during the weekends.
I am disappointed in Spartan as we've used these cameras for years.

Were you able to purchase a data plan for the camera? If so it sounds like you shouldn't have to register it, that is already been registered to your account. Most people don't want to lose a minute of the data that they paid for, that's why the transfer is set up like it is. I would see if the camera passes the hello test in it's menu under diagnostics and go from there. You can also try defaulting the camera in it's menu.

no can't do anything with camera. Did hello test and states server error. Can't buy data plan since it states already registered. Transfer shouldn't be set up with a link that expires prior to the person getting the new camera. The link should be good after the new camera is received and not with a link that expires so quickly. This is a cluster right now because of this.

Tried hello test - states "system busy"? Just went to our account on Spartan and only 2 cameras show which are original cameras with one of them being the camera that was returned due to being faulty. This new camera they sent me that states already registered is not under our account.
If anyone can send a message to Spartan as I need another email with a new link so I can use this camera that would be great. I now have concerns that they have messed this up so bad not sure how to get this new camera to work?? -
I will send the message out but not sure if anyone will see it since it's the weekend. If you give it time the camera should stop searching and let you perform the hello test. Also just because the camera is registered doesn't mean it shouldn't allow you to purchase a data plan.. Have you tried scanning the cameras barcode using the app?
