Go live camera batteries die so quickly

Hello everyone. I purchased the Spartan go live camera. It’s the newest model for 2022. I put the best AA batteries I can find in it. I would say it last at best about two or three weeks. Does this sound about right ? I’m not getting any more than one or two images per day and I do not use the live feature very often at all. Any help would be appreciated.

    The GoLives are connected all the time so they use a lot of battery power. Are you using lithium aa's, they last the longest. You may want to look into solar or an external battery box. You can also turn the GoLive feature off and the batteries will last longer.

    Awesome feedback. I’ll try lithium and turn the feature off. If I turn the feature off , will it last a lot longer like the other Spartan cams that are not go live ?

    Yes, it should be very close to those. It might even be a little longer with that built in battery.

    I’m not sure from your post how many sets of batteries you’ve used but if it's been just a couple of sets, the first set usually depletes quickly because the internal battery is usually dead or nearly so when you get the camera so they are used to charge the internal battery fully the first time. You also didn’t say whether you are using alkaline or lithium, but lithiums should last longer than alkaline.

    Thank you all for the responses.

    I had no idea that this camera really needs an external battery system and solar panel.

    I’ve been using Spartan for about seven years now and always used energizer alkaline batteries with no problems. Seems like it would last for at least several weeks just on batteries alone.

    I will need to turn the live feature off and will purchase lithium batteries. Also purchased a solar panel.

    If you're only getting a few pictures a day you should have no problem just running that camera on just the panel with no batteries. I have two cameras that have been out over two years on just the solar panels and some nights I would get 70-80 pictures. Most days was around 30-40. I'm assuming you got bought the Spartan panel?

    I, too, run several GoLives with a solar panel and no AA batteries. You’ll get more out of your solar panel if you don’t run AA batteries. When you run AA batteries, the camera uses those at night to charge the internal battery so the solar panel doesn’t have as much work to do during the day. If you don’t have AA, the internal will deplete more (but unless the camera is sending hundreds of pics a day, it probably won’t deplete that much) but then it will charge during the day.

    If the camera isn’t far from you, try it without AA batteries and just the solar panel (assuming it is at least 10W) and see how it goes.
