Sim Card Activation

Are you putting this camera on your AT&T phone account, or was it using Buy-A-Session, or has it been on a Spartan data plan?

AT&T quit activating devices on Buy-A-Session back in April, so if it was on BAS, you’ll have to either put it on your cell phone account (which I think can be pretty pricey) or put it on a Spartan plan.

If it’s on a Spartan plan, it has to have a SIM from Spartan. One from AT&T will not work to put it on a Spartan plan.

Spartan Data Plan is what it has been on every year.  I have always had an AT&T sim in the camera, it came with it.  I bought a new one for $5 from att yesterday but need to attach the iccid on the sim to the camera.  Spartan sells the same replacement att sim cards on the website for $5, there are just no instructions on how to activate the new sim card to the camera.

If you've had the camera on a Spartan data plan using the SIM that came with it, the SIM was a Spartan AT&T SIM. You cannot use a SIM that you buy from AT&T. You must get a replacement SIM from Spartan. They may look the same (actually, they don't, the globe is in a slightly different location on a Spartan SIM than on an AT&T SIM) but they are not.

What kind of issues are you having that you needed a new SIM card?

Register Network Failed, Please check SimCard and Restart

I did trouble shooting with support, set to default, manually updated firmware, checked APN settings, popped a sim card from a working camera in still never got on the network. I am not wanting to give up on the camera yet, so I wanted to try a new sim card.

If the SIM card from a working camera didn't get it to find signal then a new one probably isn't going to make a difference. Have you tried swapping antennas with the working camera?

New antenna from Spartan? How old is the camera?

Yes, new antenna from spartan. Bought cam in 2019. Heading to get new SD card that matches all recommended specs. That’s the only thing I haven’t done. I will re-activate with old sim and see what happens

Also, if there’s a data plan on the old SIM, does the old SIM work in a different camera?

You don’t mention swapping SD cards with between this camera and a working camera, but that was probably an oversight in what you typed rather than something you didn’t try. I see you’re going to get a new SD card, but you could try a working one from a different camera.

New SD didn't do anything either.  Any other last ditch ideas before the trash man comes tomorrow?

Send an email to support@spartancamera.com and ask for an RMA to send it in to get looked at. They have a two year warranty. It may be something as simple as the antenna disconnected inside.
