    The standard model cameras are 6 volts, do not connect a 12 volt supply to it very bad things will happen. The Ghost and GoLive are 12v.

    I recently received the Solar bundle kit. I need to confirm that the battery and box will work for my GoCam. My camera is an older version, the GC-ATTb model (S158). The battery I received is 12 v, I think. Does the battery box convert voltage for usage with my GoCam. If not, is Spartan Camera going to exchange batteries for me after I was led to believe this kit would work for my Camera. Going into a remote area here in a couple of weeks and I want to get it right the first time.

    The Battery box for the 6 volt cameras does reduce the voltage from 12v to 6v. The 12 volt and 6 volt cameras have a different plug so if the battery box plug fits the GoCam you should be fine. Just an FYI the 12 volt box should have a threaded collar around the plug and the 6 volt models do not.

    About to go in and install the new solar kit. Another question has come up regarding the AA batteries. I'm thinkin they all need to be removed and left out as we will now have the larger battery and solar source. Is that correct? Just checking, crossing the Ts, dottin the eyes, ha. Thanks

    I generally run mine with at least 4 rechargeables (because they won’t leak like alkalines) because I have a lot of the old-style cases that you can’t open and close with the cable plugged in.

    Internals serve as a backup if the cable comes unplugged but you don’t have to use them.

    I recently installed the new Solar bundle for my GoCam. Got it all mounted, attached to the tree, located in a very remote area. Since I was under the impression that it was okay to leave the double AAs in the camera as a back up, just in case the cord falls out, I left the batteries inside. The new battery w/box is fully installed. Just want to confirm that it was okay to have the AA batteries in there. And how do I know if the camera is pulling from the new power source? The status report I get still says the same voltage as before when only AAs were the only power, now I have the 6V source. Should I be seeing something different on my status report?

    Jeff, yes it's ok to leave the batteries in the camera. You will want to check them periodically to make sure they don't leak since they may be in there for a very long time with the solar set up. With the GoCam you really can't tell from the status report if it's running off of solar/external or the AA batteries.
