question about the solar/12v/battery box

    The panel plugs into the battery box and then the box plugs into the camera. You don't have to remove the batteries in the camera but I do, you really don't need them. You would set the battery type to 12 sla.

    John, I just checked the camera battery settings and which one do I select to use the 12v external battery and solar panel

    AA

    12v lead-acid

    solar

    AA+12v lead acid

    AA+solar

    12V lead-acid. The camera only sees the 12V battery. It doesn’t know that the 12V battery is being charged by the solar panel (and it doesn’t matter).

    Like Liz said you want the 12v lead acid, SLA stands for sealed lead acid.

    If you leave AA batteries in as backup ((I will not be able to go fix anything once set up) do you select AA +12v lead acid?

    Yes. I would not use alkaline batteries, though, because they may leak if they are left as long as you hope you don’t have to touch the camera.
