POOR RECEPTION

Just like cell phones most of the cameras are carrier specific. Spartan does have a multi carrier model that's fairly new to the lineup of cameras. Your newer camera may be showing signal quality instead of signal strength like your older models, does the new camera have the SQ (signal quality) on the status report where the older models don't? If it's lees than 30 days since you bought the camera you may be able to swap it out.

It usually shows 2 bars for signal . My old ones are always 5 bars in same location. It also shows signal quality and the display shows a number usually around 10 with (poor) displayed after that number.

No they do not have a signal quality. Just show the 5 bars.

Ok, that's why they are different. Signal quality is more accurate on the meter and usually shows lower than signal strength. The difference between Att and Verizon could have something to do with it. I wouldn't worry about what you see on the meter and as long as the camera is sending pics you'll be fine. What is the model of your other cameras?

The others I am running that get excellent reception are GC-Z4Gb-62577 - GC-Z4Gb/GoCam (Verizon 4G) Blackout.  I don't mind having a poor signal but what I worry about is today I am getting "fair" reception "17"  and received 40 pics since daylight. The other day when I had poor reception "10" I received 8 pics in that amount of time. It could be coincidence that game is moving better today but I always hate having that doubt in my mind that I am missing a lot of deer because of a poor signal. Is there any way to tell if the cam didn't send pics because of a poor signal or are they just lost and no way to tell if one was dropped or 30? Thanks

If the GoCam firmware is up to date and showing SQ numbers then it also has a feature that if the signal is low and it can't send it will queue the pictures and send them when the signal is good enough. If you're getting pictures then you shouldn't be missing anything.

OK Thank you for the info. The firmware should be up to date as I bought the cam less than two weeks ago.  I was going to swap this for a Verizon dedicated cam or one that has the multi carrier option  but as long as I am getting the pics sooner or later I am fine with it. I thought if the cam tried to send them and failed they were gone.

New cameras often ship with older firmware. Do not assume that it is current. Look on the status report and see if it says that the firmware is current or not.

It should say up to date or have an option to "update"

If your camera is an A4gb2 then it's up to date. Do you use the app?

My cam is a  GC-A4Gb2-298307 - GC-A4Gb2/GoCam 4G (AT&T) Blackout   so it appears it must be updated. Correct.  Thanks
