Picture on demand
My cameras are not taking pictures when I try to do that from my cell phone through the app

Only the older model cameras (the old 3G that can't transmit video) can take a picture on demand. If you have any of the newer models (e.g., GC-ATTxb/i, GC-V4Gb/i, GC-Z4Gb/i, GC-A4Gb/i, GC-LRAb/i), you cannot take a picture on demand.
If your camera is capable of it, in Wireless Settings, there is an option for Real Time Control (on/off) and Phone Number. If your camera is not capable of it, then you have Power Saving as an option under Wireless Settings.
What are you wanting to accomplish? There may be another way to get the photo(s) that you want without that manual command? IOW, why do you want to take a picture now? (There are perfectly legitimate reasons to want to do that!)

I bought the GC-A4Gb to use in conjunction with my feral hog trap... i.e. to be able to see if all the hogs are inside the trap by way of a real-time photo, and only then drop the trap gate with a text message from my cell phone. That would be my reason for wanting on demand capability. With the camera I bought, I must rely on the email or text with the latest photo to be sent and received timely, to know if I can drop the gate with the desired result. If Spartan has a new camera with this capability please let me know.....

That's good to know johnny.... I am still learning about how and what this camera can do. Been nothing but problems so far... very erratic, turns out there was moisture inside so I just sent it back under warranty claim. Hopefully once I get a camera that works properly it will fulfill the intended purpose for trapping hogs.

If there are hogs in the trap and the camera is positioned properly (meaning not so far away the it doesn’t trigger and not too high or low), you should get pictures. There’s no reason to need to request a photo.
If you want checkup photos, use scheduled events (for an hour or more apart) or time lapse hooray maybe 10 or 15 minutes apart.

Thanks eswoope... that is also good information to know. I was just looking on the Spartan mobile app on my phone to see if there is some way for it to give a sound notification when a new photo comes in (example: middle of the night when hogs are more likely to trigger the camera). I have such a notification when the message comes via email, but I haven't found anything about that yet on the mobile app ....

That’s not in the app settings, it’s in your phone’s settings for apps. You’ll need to look in your phone’s settings, apps, notifications and find the app in that list and then allow notifications.
If you want belts and suspenders, you can still send via text, too. On the portal, enter your phone as an email address (with @mms.att.net for an AT&T phone) as an email contact, then for the camera, select that as a delivery option.
