We purchased our spartan go cam blackout in January of 2017. Model GC-VCTb.  Verizon. This is not one of the 3G models that will no longer work after 2019 is it?

  Yes, Verizon is shutting down all 3g services in December 2019.

  One more question, can it then be used as just a trail camera since no cell service?

  An email was sent out earlier this year about a discount to purchase a 4g Verizon if you owned a 3g Verizon camera. You would have to check with Spartan directly to see if that promotion is still being offered. Yes after Verizon discontinues 3g service the camera will still work as a normal (non cellular) trail camera. Remember that the camera could continue to work until the end of 2019, that's still over a year to go.
