Camera wont work while battery compartment is closed (GC-A4Gb)

Camera works as normal with the battery compartment open, however when I close it, I get the flashes on the front but the camera does not do anything. The cable on the inside housing does not look like it is pinched or frayed.

  You don't have anything inside the camera that might be pressing against the buttons by any chance do you? Also check the SD card and Sim card and make sure they are properly seated.

  Nothing appears to be pressing the buttons. The battery compartment is clean and free of debris. I re-seated the SD card and SIM.

  So with the camera open it takes motion triggered photos? Does the Sim card stick out past the camera when it's installed or is it flush?

  Yes sir. The sim card sticks out maybe a millimeter. It does have a couple nicks on it, I will file it down and try it again.

  I would trim a hair off the end of it and see if that helps
