    That’s probably a good question for tech support. Support@spartancamera.com or 770-582-0004 9 AM - 6 PM Eastern M-F.

I’m surprised that it says only Lite and Premium. I would think it ought to be Auto or Premium. In any case, you probably do need a BuyASession SIM. You can still send via text using Lite (or Auto).

    Rob,

I’m curious. How much have you been paying per month per camera for PayGo? I was so glad to move from PayGo to BAS because I had to fight with PayGo every single month to get it renewed back when I had it. BAS ended up being a lot less hassle and less expensive for me, but I think I was using the $10/month plan.

    Hi Liz,

Thank you the answer.  I'll check with support just to make sure.

So, I've been paying PayGo $25/month for our older cameras (one is at $30/month because I had to get a new SIM) for their unlimited text but no data plans.  I put about $100 at a time into each SIMs account and then just have a list to check every few months to make sure they don't run out.  But yeah it's a ton more expensive than BAS.  I pay $75 for 4GB of data for 12 months, and there's no fees or taxes.  The problem I've found so far is for my older SR1s to use BAS I have to type my email and password info into the SMTP screen.  I loan the cameras out to townships for an illegal dumping program so I'm hesitant to have my email password visible like that. So I haven't figured out the best way to manage that yet.

Rob, give tech a call like Liz said and see what they can do. You also might want to talk to them about upgrading to a 4g camera, it might make your life easier because then you could just share the cameras access with someone and remove them yourself when you wanted to all from the app. Actually it's not really an upgrade because you get to keep your 3g camera but you can buy a 4g for $250. Also allows you to get videos which might help with the illegal dumping prosecution.

I don’t know if there’s any way to run those cameras using premium and the app, but if there is, it’s $111/camera ($75 for data + $36 for a year of premium).

If you can justify upgrading to the 4G model, you have faster trigger, more powerful flash. Photo + video is an excellent feature, too.

Have you considered setting up a gmail account strictly for the cameras rather than using an email account that you actually use? Maybe you’ve already done that. If not, that may be a workaround, maybe even set up several accounts and use a different account for each group of cameras, change the password for the account if/when you deploy the cameras for a different client.

Obviously, being able to put those cameras on premium so you can use the app and share the cameras to the appropriate people is preferable, but if you want to use data but have to use text, that might be a less invasive option.

I am pretty sure there's a way to get those cameras using premium and the app.
