Camera quit working.
For 4 months the cameras worked well. THEN they stopped sending the photos and said I have to pay them “Premium Credits” $4 for 3 cameras = $12 a MONTH!!! This was not disclosed when I bought the cameras.

You must have already bought premium credits for the cameras to work for three months, credits have always been part of the premium/app package, that has not changed. Each camera comes with one free month credit so someone who has access to your account purchased credits along the way. Also if you buy 10 at a time the price drops to $3 each.

From whom did you buy the cameras? What carrier model are the cameras?
Premium service and credits have been a standard part of Spartan Camera offerings for several years now, since the app was first released, which I think was spring 2016. There has always been a monthly cost for using premium service, except for the first month free that you get with every camera.

Neither me or my son remember anything on the website saying that. I returned a Spypoint camera because I found that out when I opened the package and read the instructions. Bought 3 cameras On three separate occasions and we missed it 3 times? My son is a mechanical engineer who reads the details. Three times we missed it? Really? I guess it could happen but what are the odds of missing that point three times? One camera hasn’t been sending photos for 2 months due to dead batteries in the woods 5 hours away. How could it have been using Credits?

Deer Hunter,
I was asking so I would know what dealer (or dealers) hadn’t provided you with complete information. It doesn’t change premium credits at all. Unfortunately, some dealers don’t adequately explain premium service. I don’t know whether it’s ignorance, forgetfulness, or something deliberate to make the sale.
I’m not sure what the Amazon seller could have done since you may not have actually talked to the dealer. -
Your camera that was down because of dead batteries wouldn’t have used credits after the month it was using before the batteries died expires. It would not use another credit until it came back up. That camera should show an expiration date no more than 30 days after it went down and then no more credit usage until you put batteries in it.
If you look at the usage history, you will see the dates each camera used a credit from the pool. This screen shot shows one free premium credit down toward the bottom and then the camera above it (the new camera on my account) used it. Other than that, you can see cameras pulling one premium credit from my pool of credits at all dates and times.

Also, if you don’t want to pay for premium service, you can use Auto at no charge above what you are paying for data. You are limited to one phone number (in email format) or email address, small thumbnails, no transmitted HD photos or video, no setting changes, and no scheduled events.

I’m just sorry that you didn’t have the information up front. Even though the premium fee isn’t THAT much, it’s still not fun to find out about it after the fact. If you’d known about it up front, you probably would have been okay with it.
There are several full time developers on staff who continue to make improvements to the app and the portal (web site), as well as expenses for the server and other things involved with providing premium service. That’s what the premium credit payment supports.
