    There’s no recommended solar panel, per se. If you’re talking about the Ghost (GC-W4Gb or GC-G4Gb), then Spartan has a direct-connect solar panel (maybe not in stock right now).

    For all other (6V) models, you have to connect the solar panel to an external battery. The Spartan Camera battery box has the connections for a solar panel. We have had kits (battery box, solar panel and some other stuff) but they aren’t in stock right now.

    Can you use the batteries with the solar panel or will the camera use the batteries only if you put them in?

    I don’t understand the question. 

    You can use internal batteries in either the Ghost or the other models. The solar panel will not charge the internal AA batteries.

    1. Couldn’t find a solar panel of any type sold out or not.
    2. Probably original question not stated clearly, will the batteries stay I unutilized and only be a backup if the solar panel isn’t supplying enough charge...hopefully that’s clearer

    With the standard model Spartans (6 volt cameras) you need an external battery to connect the solar panel to. If you run an external battery with a solar panel connected to it and batteries inside the camera the batteries in the camera won't be used until the external battery gets low.

    I don't think Spartan has a panel for the six volt cameras. You can check with Mike Kirkpatrick at herd360
