Lens fogging
We are tracking the movement of a lost dog and we are right in the middle of a cornfield so you can imagine the moisture that develops at night . We are getting foggy pictures not only from the Spartan but her other trail cameras because of condensation and haze. It has been very hot and humid here as well. Can I use something like rain X anti-fog on the lens of the Spartan? We are attempting capture this evening and I just want to make sure that were able to have clear pictures . The attached photo is one of the better ones.

All,
I would like to comment and expand on the lens fogging issue that a user has experienced. I would first like to say that my spartan ghost camera is awesome, very happy with my purchase!! As a retired electronics engineer, I've enjoyed working with optical and electronic systems in a variety of environmental conditions. One of the many challenges is keeping these systems dry do to moisture intrusion....one of the ways to nearly guarantee the absence of moisture is to hermetically seal the system and introduce an inert gas such as Nitrogen...not practical for a Ghost camera!! Like the customer with the fogging problem above, I've recently experienced this problem with my Ghost camera...a lens defogger did solve the problem:) The other thing I noticed with my camera is after a heavy rain followed by low temperatures, a small amount of water was found in the battery compartment = condensation and a small amount of camera performance degradation. I'm designing a heating system for mine right now..hopefully, this will help:) I've noticed on some of the comments on the forum that cameras just stop working...consider removing it from the damp environment and letting it dry out. -
Apologies...this is a very old thread but a new problem for us.
We have a Ghost Cam as well, which we love, but it recently started developing a fogging inside the unit/lens. Ours is also inside a lock box, but has been for almost 2 years so not certain that was the cause. The unit is "mature" so maybe it's just passed its prime, but I'm hoping to still send it in to see if anything can be done for it...replace a gasket or two, etc.
Thanks! -
Thanks John! Just double checked both now...gasket appears to have no issues around the door and as well for the antenna...I'd replaced the standard one a few years back with the flexible one as I'd accidentally broken it pulling it down for replacing the batteries before we got the solar panel/external battery companion.
I'll put it outside here at the house for a few days and see how it does before determining if I can put it back in it's place at the Farm or send it in for repairs.
Thanks again!
