Camera still taking pics but not texting
I have four GC-Z4Gb Verizon cameras. All set up exactly the same way. Rechargeable batteries internally, Herd 360 solar external setup as well. 16 GB Class 10 SD cards, showing full power. Been working like a charm and then yesterday around 8:00 pm central time they all four quit texting. They still take pictures, and they show up in the Spartan mobile app but no longer receiving texts.
I have 19 available premium credits in my account. Thoughts?

I have a GC-ATTb GoCam (ATT service). REAL TIME commands don't work when texting the command *500# or when going through the App. Motion sensing does not work either. My commands do not show up in Command History in the App. My scheduled events don't send to my email or the app either. This has been happening since 11PM last night 8-19-19. Continued through the day. Is this the same experience everyone has also? My App has been updated to latest version. Same issues.

I just got a picture sent to app about 8 minutes ago and all commands are still pending. Shows no service and no batteries in the camera according to the app. My camera worked flawless for thousands of pics and now I’m ready to have a stroke after 3 hrs of phone convos with Spartan and Verizon and still not getting proper function

Mark,
Did you refresh the status report page by any chance? Sometimes you have to do that to make the app show the latest info. It’s at least worth a try.
I understand that you are frustrated, but having a stroke isn’t going to be good!
I don’t think that this is something that we users can get to work. I think it’s going to take a pow wow between Spartan and Verizon. This is systemic. Johnny has gotten a couple of pictures via text so I’m going to try time lapse on the camera I have sending to text again.
HunterJOEY,
I have been using one of my ATTb that’s real time on to test “take a photo” and time lapse a couple of times today and it has worked perfectly making setting changes, sending pics (getting them to the app and via email, but they aren’t being delivered by text). I don’t know about motion sensing on this particular camera because it’s watching our camper and there typically isn’t any motion there unless we are there.

I’ve tried it all, refresh, reopen, reboot apparently nothing works. Like I said I’ve never used the app, just always had the pics emailed/texted to my number@vzwpix and it was headache free from the start and then yesterday I got nothing. I’m sure it’ll get worked out it’s just frustrating.

HunterJOEY,
Actually receiving photos via text. If you are running your camera on auto (not premium), then you enter your phone number as an email address (with @vzwpix.com or @mms.att.net or whatever your phone carrier’s email suffix is) or an actual email in the camera.
If you are using premium, you enter your phone number as an email address in Email Contacts on the web site/portal, then check it for Delivery Options for a particular camera.
Mark,
Which model camera? GC-what?
The camera is showing on the portal and in the app? You went to your camera, changed Send Via to Premium, got the registration code, and added the camera to the app?
Did you take/send a manual photo? (Camera in setup mode, on the network, point it at something, press OK to take photo, OK again to send.)
The 3G models only send status info when it’s requested or with a scheduled event. By default, there’s one of those, at midnight. The 4G models update the status info with every photo.
Did you do a settings update and was the time zone set in the app? -
Eswoope, My camera is the GC-VCTi, Yes I got the code added it to the app, test photos worked and it sent a pic via the app while I was putting it out around noon. Status report shows grey signal strength icon and grey battery symbol. Spartan CS Rep said just before close it was showing it wasn't setup with a wireless plan, Verizon Advanced Technician said everything on his end was hunky dory! I also read him off the comments on here from others and he was surprised there was no ticket for the issue. FYI he did tell me the "sunset" date on 3G's have been pushed back to the end of 2020. I just walked back to the camera and walked in front and it did send a pic via the app but other than that I have no comms with it via the app. How do you request it to take a photo?

dharg1,
Your cameras don’t send texts. They send pictures to the Spartan Camera server, then the SC server sends the pics to the app and/or to email/text.
Can you tell me exactly which model(s) (GC-what?) you are getting text pics from and which one(s) you aren’t? There shouldn’t be any difference from model to model, but you never know.
Mark,
That’s news to me about Verizon sunset in 2020. Interesting.
The VCTi is 3G so it only updates status when you request a status report or at midnight for the default status report. Is the camera where you can easily trigger it? If so, in the app, request a status report, then walk in front of the camera.
In order to be able to take a photo now, make sure that real time is on. It’s part way down the settings page. That will eat batteries like crazy, but is probably worth doing for a short time for testing. Once the camera has updated the settings, Take Photo Now should be in the camera menu in the app. However, you may have to go to status report then back out to the main screen for it to show up in the menu.

Mark Wooley, Spartan can only see if you have a plan through them. If your plan is with Verizon they can't tell. What you can do if you're near the camera is go into the menu and do a hello test, if it passes then you have a plan and that part is fine. Sorry if this has been said already. I'm trying to catch up and on my phone it's a little difficult

So eswoope, I can't turn realtime on as when I hit "update" settings it just shows the red cancel bar across the bottom and pending in the commands. I can't keep going to my camera as my target buck is bedding literally 60-70 yards away and too much activity is going to push him out and somewhere else. I need high winds, rain, something to cover the sound of me along with a south or east wind to keep from alerting him to my presence. It was a risk getting that close to him but its been worth it, im getting him at sunrise, mid morning and just before dark now for 3 weeks! Just need to keep tabs on him for a few more weeks and bow season will be here.
jdeerhunterpics I would sure hope the Spartan CS rep would know that but from our conversation that wasn't the case.

Mark,
Cancel the settings update, turn real time on, then request the settings update again (unless you requested real time already and the Cancel is because of that). That Cancel is going to be there until the settings update takes place. That’s so that if you change your mind or need to make some additional changes, you don’t have to wait for it to complete before you can make more changes.

I am in state of NY. Take this with a grain of salt, but I chatted with my carrier ATT and there are known network issues in my area that are being worked on. This might be the case for anyone having similar issues like me, which are: no real time command function, no scheduled events, no motion sensing pics, all of any kind by text or app.
