Time/Date stamps - DeerLab
I have 10 cameras that are working great so far. I'm really enjoying the pictures, etc. I was interesting in downloading the pics, and then subscribing to a photo management company like Deerlab to quickly assess patterns, etc. However, DeerLab is telling me that the time/date stamp is removed by these cameras when sending wirelessly. It's embedded in the picture but they are claiming that their service can't detect it from the picture. I understand that too. However, when login to Spartan, the links for each picture clearly has the date and time stamp embedded in the link....so, to me...the information is there. My cameras are in Kansas. I'm in Georgia, so obtaining the actual SD cards is not feasible. This is the whole reason why I went with the Spartan cameras.....
Anyway, it would be nice to figure out a way DeerLab can get the time/date stamp from the downloaded photos. I don't think this is a Spartan issue, to be clear. I see value in both services....I've got deer in Kansas that must be shot....studs. So, how can I make the two companies talk and transfer the information in a usable way.
Thanks in advance.

Scottcoger,
I have 9 cams and love them. I had the exact same question and got the same response from Jon at Deerlab, and found this post. I'd love to hear from Spartan on this to see if Spartan and Deerlab can work together without manually changing ever date stamp. I copied the response from Jon below.
Spartan Go Cams, as well as any other cell cam manufacturer, will need to save the timestamp EXIF data when creating thumbnails of their images. Currently, they strip this information that's embedded when making the smaller thumbnail. This information could be included but that's a decision from the camera manufacturer.
I would recommend contacting them and asking to see if they could do this as we do not have control over their images.
To sync weather data and have everything automated on DeerLab's side you will have to upload photos from a SD card as they have all the EXIF data intact.
I hope this helps explain why.

I think you are probably right on the file size and smaller transmission. However, the data is there because it's on the spartan 'server' when i login to view the pictures. So, somehow Spartan has the information. I'm hoping that Spartan can somehow append it to the photos when we download them, which isn't done wirelessly. Deerlab has to make an effort to retrieve the information also....they are a premium priced service and this seems like a natural evolution of product R&D. They don't have to re-code anything...it's just a data retrieval.
I'm not an IT person, so there's a good chance I've oversimplified it.
Great convo....
selfishly..this needs to happen. :-)

Johnny,
Time on the portal is the actual time on the info strip. Just checked.
jbows,
You probably won’t hear anything useful from support. That’s not the group who would know what has to be done and how much effort it would take to do it. But at least you’ve made a request and I’ve mentioned it so maybe it will be considered. I doubt it will be a high priority, though.

This is interesting. The date/time displayed with the thumbnails on the portal matches the date/time on the info strip so that information is transmitted to the portal somehow. Now to see whether there’s a way to keep it with the image.
If this happens at all, it won’t be something that will happen soon, but thank you both for calling it to our attention so that it can at least be considered.
