    Matt,

Y'all made the decision to buy a model that Spartan hasn't sold in quite some time. The 3G models (ATTxb) were replaced by the 4G models (A4G) within a fairly short time.

I don't see how your decision to buy technology that you knew was old and would be sunsetted at some point is Spartan's fault. Had you bought 4G cameras in the first place, you wouldn't be in this pickle.

The price on the 4G cameras is much lower than it was on the 3G ones and Spartan has been offering the $250 upgrade price for a while now.

    >>hate to go another route

Spartan isn't forcing you to make a decision about what cameras to buy in the future. That's your choice. Spartan didn't put you in this position. They didn't sell you these ATTxb cameras. You could have bought A4G at the upgrade price (for however many xb you already own) in the first place but you decided to go with the xb, which you had to know was going to quit working at some point, given that Verizon announced their sunset over a year ago.

Matt, ATT 3g should be good until the end of 2021 beginning of 2022.

Then they shouldn’t offer a 2 year warranty on discontinued models. The reason that I’ve been purchasing the xb models was because I have been able to buy them at half the price of a 4g with a 2 year warranty. If I knew that there was no warranty, I agree, I would’ve just paid the extra for the 4g instead of buying a 3g and then upgrading it.

The warranty is for repair or replacement with the same model, often with a refurbished one. Unfortunately, they are out of the same model because it was discontinued some time ago.

Hence, no warranty for repair or replacement because it’s a discontinued model

It should be stated that all models come with a 2 year warranty excluding discontinued models. In that case we reserve the right to replace discontinued models with another camera that may not have the same features.

It's not a newly-discontinued model. I'm not sure when it was discontinued. I see I bought my last ones on 12/5/2017. I got my test A4G on 9/19/2017 but I don't remember when they actually were available to the public because I didn't buy any right off the bat when they were. I bought several of them exactly a year ago today.

I will pass along your suggestion for the legal wording in the documentation that's being worked on.

Do you know if the dealer from which you bought the camera is an authorized dealer?

I’m done. I spent more money because having another cam is more important to me right now than money in my pocket. Just want to put this behind me. Thanks for your opinions.

The retailer was Adorama Camera in NY. They are an authorized dealer. When I contacted them approximately 40 days after the purchase, they told me I was out of luck and I needed to deal with Spartan.

Thanks. I'm hoping that there will be a policy to cover situations like this in the future. I've at least brought it up.

I didn’t mean to come off the wrong way earlier Elizabeth, and I’m sorry if I did. I was just  frustrated, and now just want to move on. At least I’ll have another one to put in the woods soon.

Hello Elizabeth. I thought that I’d give him an update. I paid $150 for an open box a4gb, because I needed a camera that had video, and not something that did not take video like the att-kt that they wanted to replace my att-xb with. I received it and it works fine. My friend that I mentioned earlier that had bought the same att-xb at the same time from the same place was also have the same problem that I was. However, after sending it in last month and not hearing back on the status of his camera after calling for the last 2 weeks, he finally got through today. And would you believe that support decided to send him a BRAND NEW a4gb at NO COST??? Is this a new change of policy??? Im a bit upset that I had to pay for a used camera and now they are just replacing his at no cost? I’m actually happy for him because for once it sounds like Spartan is doing the right thing. I just don’t understand why I had to pay for mine when all I wanted was a camera that had the same features as the one that I bought. Any idea on how I might be able to get an answer and will they make this right?I’ve been trying to call, but of course I don’t get an answer.

You will have to ask support about the policy. I'm not in the loop for that sort of thing. Hopefully, someone will be able to take care of you. I can understand why you aren't happy.

Either email or call (one or the other, not both). If you call, leave voice mail. Someone will get back to you but it may be next week.

Just another update. They finally got it figured out and decided to do the right thing and send me a brand new a4gb to replace my xb at no cost. I just wish that this issue could’ve been resolved like this much sooner. Better late than never. My faith has been restored. I even decided to purchase yet another a4gb as soon as I got off the phone with them on Monday, bringing our group total to 13 cameras for now. Thank you.
