Att-xb

I have a bunch as well. They were working so well that me and my friend saw a deal on 2 of them brand new, and neither of them worked out of the box. I was very disappointed. The firmware was updated and we where told to send them in to be replaced. The problem is they don’t have any and they want to replace them with a different camera that doesn’t do video. Any suggestions Elizabeth?

So if it comes with a 2 year warranty and it doesn’t work, especially right out of the box, is it a common business practice to replace with a lesser model? I purchased that camera specifically because it does video. Why would I want a replacement camera that doesn’t have that feature? And why would I want to pay an up charge fee to get a camera that has that feature that is almost the price of a new camera?

You’re right John. I don’t want a lesser model. But because the only camera that they have for AT&T with video is the 4g, they feel that I have to spend more money with them. I even purchased a 4g from them last month because I needed another camera while I waited for this one to be replaced.

I can understand why Spartan might not want to do a one-for-one swap with a new 4G camera for an outdated, probably heavily discounted model. If you bought something from Overstock.com, I don’t know that you’d expect a replacement from the original company with a newer model at no additional cost.
It’s not Spartan’s fault that you discovered the problem after the return window. -
That is not the case Elizabeth. Vince told me it would be several weeks to months to replace after trying to send me a lesser camera. I told them I needed video and not to send me something that didn’t have video. So I was told that if I needed one right away, I could purchase an Att4gb for $250 and when they got more Attxb’s in, they would send me that one. After thinking about it, I paid for 2 cameras and still only have one as I’m still waiting for this one. They told me about 2 weeks ago that they were having one sent back from a customer and when they received it they would check it out and send it to me. Today Charlene called and said that that one was no good. So then she said I could upgrade to the 4g for another $250. I don’t see why I should have to spend more money. I hesitantly said the most that I would pay to upgrade was $100. I thought I was being generous. Evidently not enough. Their best offer is now $150 for an open box 4g.
I didn’t want to air out all of the details online, so if you need to edit this, go right ahead. I’m just a bit upset over this whole thing. I just want what I paid for already. This has gone on for too long. -
I didn’t purchase from Overstock.com first of all. I was going back and forth with Spartan for a while after the purchase. First they suspected a bad sd card. Then it needed a firmware update. Then they said send it in and we’ll fix it. By the time I was told that they wanted to send me a lesser model, it was more than 30 days. They should’ve told me when I was having issues before I sent it in, it couldn’t be replaced. I have 3 other xb’s that I paid full price for and are still under the 2 year warranty. What if I have an issue with one of them? Will I be out of luck as well? It shouldn’t matter whether or not I got a deal on them. I paid for a brand new product from one of their dealers and it comes with a 2 year warranty. They should honor it and not try to replace with a lesser product. Even some of the employees that I spoke with at Support told me that I was right and they would expect it to be replaced with something of equal or greater value than what I purchased. Not an inferior product.

I also didn’t start this to stir the pot, but rather than to see if other people have had issues with this model recently. My friend purchased one at the same time as I did with the same issue. And the one that they were going to send me evidently has the same issue. I was just wondering if it maybe there was a bad batch at the end of the production cycle or are these 3 bad cameras an isolated issue.

So it seems that you’re a good customer John, or any employee, idk. But in any event if you had an xb that failed and was still under warranty, regardless of the purchase price, what would you expect the resolution to be in your case? You agreed that a lesser model would be unacceptable. How would you resolve it?

Honestly, my policy on something like this has been the same for many years and it doesn't matter the product. DOA items should be returned to the purchaser. I do understand your frustration but I also see the other side, what if you had bought a Verizon 3g camera? Verizon stopped activating 3g models June of last year, Should Spartan be responsible for that as well? It seems to me that they are trying to help and I understand your point too. What it boils down to is that whoever you bought it from probably shouldn't have sold it to you and they should be the ones correcting the problem. For the record I do beta testing for Spartan and off site tech support.

I have been well aware of the Verizon 3g issue. And I’m sure that it’ll happen to att at some point as well. I wouldn’t expect Spartan to be responsible for that. Spartan customer service has always been good to me so I wanted to give them every chance to repair or replace the camera. My friends cam actually worked for several days then stopped abruptly. He was told to send it in. You wouldn’t think that there would’ve been an issue for a replacement. They should’ve been upfront saying that it can’t be replaced before being told to send it in. Maybe then we could’ve got a refund. I reluctantly resolved this issue by coming to an agreement today with them. But honestly, after speaking with my hunting friends we have 9 xb’s between us. We are in agreement that we don’t want to be in this situation again. So at some point we will all be putting them up for sale. Whether we purchase Spartan 4g’s or something else hasn’t been decided yet. But between us and an outfitter friend of mine, we were all looking to buy several more in the coming months as we just acquired some new farms to hunt. I’d really hate to have to go another route. We will have to discuss as a group and make a decision.
