Picture size?

The transmitted images either the 640 size or the 1280 size are thumbnails and the mp's don't matter. MP's will only make a difference on requested HD images and on the SD card. There is a big difference between the 1280 and 640 transmitted images as you've probably noticed when you try and zoom in on an image.

I've never used the larger thumbnail size. I always get a 640 thumbnail and if there is anything of interest I request hi-res.
Unless I get some potential "award winning" photo, I can't imagine wasting time to download photos from the SD.
Maybe for comparison, I'll take a 3MP and 8MP test photo, have it transmitted as hi-res, and see if I can tell the difference. -
Ditto what Johnny says about using the large thumbnails. The quality is so much better than the regular thumbnails that I seldom request the HD photo.
Like Johnny, I use 5 MP for my photo size.
Remember when you chance your settings, that you’ll want to check photos that are a couple or three after you requested the settings change because it won’t happen until the next time the camera contacts the server so you want to be sure you request HD after that.
When I pull an SD card from my video-capable cameras, I do look through the pics and videos quickly (large thumbnail view in Windows Explorer) to see if there are interesting videos that I didn’t request, but I don’t look at every, or even most, images or videos.
