That panel isn't large enough to keep up with the demands of a cellular camera. A few people have tried it with very poor results.

Ah, ok. My pocket is bleeding so I'm looking for affordable options so I can keep this thing going. Lease is about 5 hrs for me and $200 per trip in gas (the Excursion is a guzzler!!). Thanks for the info John

Hit Mike Kirkpatrick up at Herd360.com. He can fix you up.

I see the $150 set up he offers on his sight, and I believe this is what Spartan is offering as well (think it's his product maybe). That's too steep for me at the moment, so looking for more economical options. Good looking out and thank you for pointing me that direction. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you have a DIY mentality, as do I, you can put one together yourself. Mike will sell you the charge controller, voltage regulator and solar panel. Be sure and get the waterproof cable glands from him, along with the cable for the solar panel and the camera. I put mine in a .50 cal ammo can. I don't remember the number, but it didn't approach $150.00.

If it’s costing you $200 in fuel round trip, one saved trip will pay for your battery setup, not to mention the time savings in not having to make the trip so often.

Mike K (Herd 360) offers both the Spartan setup and some of his own design. Spartan’s setup is their own design, not Mike’s.

Or take Steve’s suggestion and build your own using components from Herd 360.

Yes great idea Steve! Thank you.   And thank you as well Elizabeth. Unfortunately I don't go out there to change the batteries, when they run out they run out and I just have to deal with it next time I'm out there (about 4-5 times per season). I like the DIY route and will certainly explore that. You guys have been a great help!
