new camera with internal battery and gps tracker
I have a brand new ghost camera with the internal battery and GPS tracker. Installed new lithium batteries and got low internal battery voltage (3.81) and shows 10.70 external voltage. Validated that each of the 12 batteries is above 1.75 volts. I am not finding anything about how the internal battery charges or if the 12 AAs charge the internal battery or if the AAs are referred to as the "external" batteries. I am disappointed in the lack of literature available explaining the operation of the dual battery functions. I'm not talking about a solar external battery...this is new technology and lacks clarification. I own 4 other spartan cameras....but none have this dual battery technology (with the built in lithium battery) if anyone can explain what i need to do or how it works please advise. It is frustrating to say the least.

As you can tell, the engineers haven’t ironed out the thresholds on battery levels with the Ghost.
The internal battery is mainly for the GPS tracking if your camera is stolen and the camera is turned off and/or the AA batteries are removed. If you have the camera direct-connected to a solar panel, you may see the internal battery get to 4 V, give or take. There really isn’t anything you can do about the internal battery.
All other power sources, including AA, are considered to be external batteries. Your lithiums are actually quite high, so the camera thinks they are nearly dead 12V. Once the voltage on them drops a bit, you’ll see s full battery indicator.
You’ll have to ignore the battery indicator for now. As long as you know what your power source is and what appropriate voltages are for that, you are good. Lithiums should be 9V or above (6 batteries in the bank * 1.5V). Rechargeable AA will be 7V or so. 12V external should be 12 or above. Direct connect solar in full sun may report as high as 22V and will charge the internal battery.

This is first one is on a 12V external battery.

This one is on direct-connect solar with rechargeable AA. Notice the relatively high voltage in the internal. I’ve seen it as high as 4.02V. During the day, the internal will be up around 18 to 22 on a sunny day because of the solar charging.
