    When you turn the camera off and then back to set up the screen doesn't come on?

    Right.  Nothing but a flashing green light.  Batteries are new.

    Check the online portal and see if you have any pending commands. If you do cancel them. You can also take the batteries out and leave the camera on for a few hours and try it again.

    Cancelled a pending firmware update.  Took batteries out for two days.  Put them back in nothing has changed.  Blank screen and flashing green light.

    No, you can do it using the playback method, do you hear any beeps if you press the menu button? Do you have a plug for external power for the camera?

    Here's a link to the downloads page and the instructions. Make sure you  use the firmware that matches your camera model exactly. You want to use the SR1/camera without update in the menu instructions.

    I do not have the external power plug.  I do not hear any beeps when the menu or any buttons are pushed.

    OK, when you do the update you wont hear anything beep wise, just hold the playback button for 4 or 5 seconds and follow the rest of the instructions. Hopefully it takes right away and the screen comes on and starts working for you.
