App not loading pics in the background

Ever since the update, the app on our iPhones has to be open in order to receive new pictures.  We have 4 cameras set up and they take several hundred pictures each per day.  The previous version of the app had all the current pictures waiting when the app was opened.  Is there a way for the app to work as it did before the update?

  iOS is a PITA at times. It prioritizes things to suit itself, not you. (FWIW, I get Facebook Page Manager Notifications sometimes hours after the actual message has come through and I’ve responded and the conversation is way past what the notification says, so it’s not just the Spartan app.)

  On your phone settings (not the app settings), scroll down to the list of apps, then to Spartan Camera and make sure that Background App Refresh is ON.
