Forgot to mention that the camera is still taking pictures. Images are on the SD card. Just not sending them.

That’s not much data left. Have you gotten a notification of low data on your plan? That’s an awful lot of data used by a camera that doesn’t send video. About how many pics a day are you getting?

Firmware current? Reset camera to defaults?

Yes I did a reset. Sorry I wasn’t clear, I’ve used 76 MB out of 2 GB so there is plenty of data left.

Ah! 76 MB used makes a lot more sense.

Is the screen showing signal bars? Have you checked the antenna? Tried a different SD card, formatted the one that’s in the camera?

It has 4 bars of signal and I did format both of the SD cards I tried. Not sure what to check with the antenna. Do SIM cards ever go bad?

On the antenna, make sure it’s not too loose, not too snug.

SIMs can go bad. You seem to have good signal so I don’t think it’s a signal problem. It sounds like you’ve tried everything.

is the firmware current? I asked earlier but there wasn’t an answer. I would be surprised if it weren’t because you aren’t new to this and this is an older camera that hasn’t gotten new firmware recently but I have to ask.

It does have the new firmware. I’ll get another camera and trade out SIM cards and antennas this weekend.

That’s an excellent way to troubleshoot.

I tried the antenna and that wasn’t it. I went into the Att buy a session and tried to use the card from another camera. It wouldn’t let me use it, said it was already in use. Couldn’t find anywhere on there to delete the camera with the known working SIM card so I could use it. Any ideas on how to do that?

With ATT you should be able to just swap SIM cards without changing anything on the buy a session site.

10-4, I just tried sending pics with the SIM card out of the working camera and it didn’t work either. Think I’ve tried just about everything. Camera may just be tired, had them for 4 seasons.

Did you try the SIM from the problem camera in the working camera? You don’t need to do anything on Buy A Session. Just swap the SIMs between the two camera. That will either diagnose that it’s a SIM problem or confirm that it is not a SIM problem.

I did, the SIM worked in the other camera

I guess that’s good news/bad news. It’s not the SIM, but if it had been the SIM, it would b3 an easy fix.

are these worth sending in for repair? An older camera?

Talk to tech support first. There may be something else that you can try.

I don't know if the camera is repairable, but I wouldn't spend money fixing something that will work less than a year (possibly a good bit less than a year if 3G is sunset in your area before the end of this year). Put the money toward a 4G camera. The 4G cameras have faster trigger, much stronger flash, and can transmit video.

If your camera is on your Verizon phone plan, then chances are your camera is out of premium credits. You're paying Verizon for data, but you premium service from Spartan and you get the first month free.
