GoCam won't switch to the 'ON' position.
Have a couple year old GoCam and it will come on and connect to ATT in the 'SETUP' position but when I move the switch to the 'ON' position it doesn't change. Green light on front of the camera just flashes.
Did the switch go bad?

It's best to take the cover off, I would only do that if the camera is out of warranty though. Take the batteries out and leave the switch turned to the setup position and let the camera sit over night. Then remove the 4 screws in the corner of the cover, lift off the cover and spray the switch and move it back and forth a bunch.

When you switch to on the screen on the inside should go dark and the green light will blink to warn you it's arming itself. Have you given it a minute or two to see if it will take a picture? While in set up mode after it finds signal press the OK button to take a picture and then press it again to send the picture, then watch what it says on the screen. What is your camera model?

Thank you for the reply. When i hit the OK button i get a message in green on the screen that says card lock. I checked my SD card and slid the lock button the opposite direction and now when i hit the OK button it snapped a pic and sent it to my phone. I think it should be good to go now. You think?

I have 2 GoCams doing this as well. The ON/Setup/OFF button seems to get mixed up. I can move it to OFF and the Setup Mode will come on. I can move it to Setup and it will Turn OFF or sometimes it'll Turn ON. I sent them in to have fixed but was told they cannot fix them. The first time I wrote in and asked about the issue they told me they had a part on backorder to fix this issue and then a month or two later when I called in they said they weren't fixing that anymore and simply told me to buy a new camera with a small discount. These cameras are only 3-ish years old and otherwise work well. Really sux that a small ON/OFF switch cannot be fixed for customers to keep using their expensive cameras as intended.
I'm going to give the above directions a try to see if that'll help the switch start back, but I'm doubtful that'll have anything to do with it mixing up the 3 options...who knows.

Yes, I have 3 of the 3G and 1 4G. The other 3G had a battery malfunction and melted a bit and now doesn't work at all. My 4G stopped taking pics recently for no reason and I have to go figure that out. Hoping just firmware or something as it's been flawless since it's newer. I've not had great luck with my Spartans this year... : /

I may have gotten the switches to work now. Actually when I put new batteries in it the screen wouldn't come on at all. I did a firmware update manually and got it to come on. I think this may have helped reset the On/Off button, not sure. But, when I send a manual picture it says "setting" and never goes to the "sending", "sent" stages. It just says "setting" for about 3-4 seconds and then it goes away. I reformatted the SD card. I also have plenty of data left and premium credits. Any ideas on fixing that and it sending pics? I'll look through more support threads in the meantime...thx

I did all of that prior. I think I may know what happened as it happened to another camera last year or the previous year. I think ATT disables a SIM card that hasn't been used in "X amount" of months. So when a trail camera sits during off season they may disable it. That's what I'm thinking happened here since everything else looks good. I'll go to ATT and get a new SIM card or re-activated tomorrow and that should fix it I think. I'll reply for others to know if it works, but it's happened before and I bet others have gone through this. Sux because I've paid for 6 months and literally have 0% usage on this camera because the ON/OFF didn't work and now I find out it's likely the SIM card too. We shall see... Thanks

Matt,
If you were able to purchase a plan using that SIM card's ICCID, the SIM has not been disabled. However, that doesn't mean that the SIM isn't the problem. If you have a six month plan on Buy-A-Session, all you need to do is to edit the device, then enter the ICCID for the new SIM to replace the ICCID for the old one. It's very easy, I've had to do it in the field in the past when I've had SIMs go bad. You won't lose your money.
Does the camera pass the Hello test? (Camera in setup, on the network, press Menu, scroll to the fourth tab then down to Diagnostic, Hello test) -
No, it failed the Hello Test last night.
I cancelled that device on the BuyASession site. It only had a month left of service.
I "added a new device" and put the same IMEI and ICCID (same SIM) and bought another 6 month plan. My camera shows AT&T and full Bars of Service after network search, but it fails the Hello Test and when I go to Register is starts the process and then it goes away and doesn't do anything. It won't send a Test pic either. Is it a data problem or camera issue?

Double check the buy a session plan and make sure it's showing as active, I've seen that be quirky before. Also look at that info screen on the camera and verify that the IMEI number is showing and that it matches the number on the sticker and make sure that the camera model number showing matches the model on the sticker. If they do then a few things we can try.

Ok, go into the cameras menu to diagnostics and find the APN setting, when you enter in there it's going to ask for a password, it's 1234. After you enter the password you'll see some options, the camera should be set to APNbl or APNbr, whichever it's set to change it to the other. Press the ok button when asked to lock in the settings and back out to the main menu where you can see on the screen what the camera is seeing. Then turn the camera off for a few seconds and then back to set up and try again.
