    You can format the SD card in the camera using it's menu or by requesting it from the status report screen on the app. If using the app you will have to wait for the camera to to check in sending either a status report or picture. If you are having camera problems that you think are SD card related it might take more than one attempt. If you use the app after the format is successful you should receive a picture with an F on the bottom of it.
