Spartan solar charger Inquiry- Is it required to remove double A batteries when installing the external battery and solar panel? Just dont want to damage my unit and there are absolutely zero instructions supplied by spartan.

  No, you can leave those batteries installed, it' a good backup in case something gets unplugged.

  You may want to use rechargeables instead of alkalines (which can leak) or lithiums (which may die at a high enough voltage that the external battery doesn’t kick in). Some people have no problems with lithiums and an external setup but I’ve seen reports of a few problems.
