External battery

I’m new to the use of external power supplies for trail cams. I currently have 9 GoCams & my question is, if the camera requires a 12v power source why does the camera have a 6v port for the cable?

    GoCams use 6 volt for external power, the Ghost and GoLive use 12v.

    Why does the external battery box for the GoCam require a 12v lead acid battery? Maybe I’m missing something

    The battery box reduces the voltage down to 6 volts for the camera. Really makes the box last a long time. I get 6 months and over 8000 transmitted pictures before I need to swap batteries.

    You can use either a 6V or a 12V battery in the GoCam battery box. I have some of each.

    Do u remove the AA’s when using an external battery

    You can leave them in or take them out. If you leave them in just make sure to check them periodically to make sure they aren't leaking.
