Issue with battery box or solar panel

I just got a spartan battery box and solar kit from herd360. got it set up with a 12v battery recommended from Herd360 to run a gocam GC-Z4Gb2.

My issue is that when the panel is plugged in the 'RPV' LED is lit on the battery box display. Instructions inside the box say "Reversed solar connection" (see attached pic)

So I am wondering this means exactly. To me it sounds like some wires are not hooked up correctly somewhere, but I've the checked several times and everything looks good.

As I was writing this up I went and checked the wiring again and tried something that makes me think its the panel. Unplugged battery (red) and plugged in the Solar (yellow) into the battery spot on the controller (red). this made the 'RBT' light up which is "battery connection error" "reversed battery connection"

Hopefully someone here can help me. Will send an email to herd360 but they are on vacation until the 5th so trying my luck here.

    Are you sure that you have the solar panel cable plugged in correctly. RPV would seem to indicate that it’s plugged in (or wired) backwards.

    Yeah there is only one way it will connect. maybe the pigtail from the panel was put on backwards. but looking at it, it appears to be done correctly.

    I know it won't clip but can you turn the plug around from the panel where you are plugging it into the wires that go to the box (your last photo posted)? If so I would try that and see if it makes a difference.
