First question is what is your camera model? As far as saving all the pics I would go to the online portal and click on email delivery and have the pics sent to an email address. I would set up an email specifically for the pictures, that way they aren't filling up your main email inbox.

Thank you, John.  It's a GHOST. Great idea on the email. I'll look into that right now.

Also the largest SD card you want to use in the Ghost is 32gb https://support.spartancamera.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040555453-SD-card-information-and-recommendations

Thank you, John.  Interesting that looks like such old information.  My camera is using micro-SD. Been using the 256 GB without issue for the last 2 months - but good to know not recommended.  We're monitoring the entrance to our business property and get +-50-100 photos a day.  We go through 256 GB in a week! It's just such a pain to unload.   I think I have the email set up now... and a new email address for it.  Great help.

An SD card that size and it being a micro (also not recommended) might work for a while but will most likely give you issues in the future. You can format and erase the pictures from the card through the status report screen in the app and you also want to have overwrite on in the camera setting of the app to delete the oldest pics on the SD card automatically to make room for the new ones.

The slot on my camera ONLY is for a micro- there is no other way around that.  I can't use anything different. I'm not using an adapter.  Correction on the camera - it's a GoLive.  Apologies, I was going from the photos of what the camera looked like compared to their website from memory... was wondering if it was off with your comments about the SD card form size.  Thankfully, I think most of your recommendations still apply. Thank you again!

Not only is 32G the largest capacity SD card that’s recommended, but also microSD is definitely not recommended. MicroSD is designed to be used standalone. The adapter is for reading/transferring photos, not for actual usage.

The card will overwrite automatically, although you may want to request a format from the app periodically to clear it.

Johnny’s idea to send the photos to email is probably the best idea, but you’re still going to have to save the photos if you want them in some sort of gallery. There may be a way to set things up so that photos are sent to a repository of some kind but I have no idea how to go about doing that.

If you are running photo + video, you’ll either have to pull the SD card or request every video. I don’t think video can be transmitted via email so you’re back to doing things online.

(I can’t imagine saving that many photos! I get several hundred a day from over 30 cameras but thank goodness I don’t need to save but a very few.)

Ok, that makes a difference, 128gb is the max then. You probably have a GoLive2 maybe?

I grabbed the box, it says Spartan Go Live -- nothing about the "2"

The box should say GoLive II. What is the model number? That will tell us.

That’s a regular GoLive, but it has a standard SD card slot, not a microSD card slot.

Does the camera open into two halves or does it have a door on the lower part of the front?

The GoLive II has a door that opens only on the bottom half. The pictures are very wide angle and have some fish eye distortion. The regular GoLive doesn’t have any distortion.

Thank you both Elizabeth and John for all your assistance.  You've been super helpful and I appreciate the near-immediate responses. The 256 GB card is working well - for months now... tested, recommended, or not. :)

Okay, but it’s not recommended and if you start having problems, that’s the most likely culprit. There’s a reason that camera companies (not just Spartan) offer recommendations.
