Verizon Cam won’t connect to network

Few things to check, is the firmware up to date? What memory card do you have in it, it should be a class 10 32gb or smaller. Default the camera in it's menu and make sure there's no pending commands in camera management. Do a hello test from the cameras menu and see if it passes.

I updated firmware when I got it about a month ago. Class 10 Sandisk 16gb card (tried several). Hello test says “system busy”

“System busy” means the camera is doing something (trying to get on the network?).

Yes I assume it’s saying that because the camera is trying to connect, but won’t..

Hello test won’t work unless the camera is on the network. I’m trying to find out whether MCU key reset is an option for the Z.

I misspoke earlier! The camera is the V4Gi.. hopefully this makes it an easier fix?!

Go into the information tab in the cameras menu and check the IMEI number, make sure it matches the number on the sticker

Yes the numbers match. I’ll be calling customer service tomorrow. Thanks for trying to help

Only other thing I can think to try is cleaning the Sim card. Rub it with a pencil eraser or try rubbing it on your jeans.

this Gocam is a huge disappointment, doesn't stay connected, couldn't get it to stop taking pics when nothing triggered it, now it won't connect to the internet...the logo says"you don't have to be there"....i may as well stay there because i'm there screwing with this camera all the time....just about to the end of my patients..

V4G   like i said, i get it connected and it disconnects by itself, it went a few months without me having to make a drive to reboot the damn thing...last time it was sending pics, it was nice enough to send me 28 text in the middle of the night before it killed the batteries. all pics were duplicates of fog.   put new batteries in it and it sent a crap load again...i'm thinking i'm screwed..

You're not screwed, the cameras have a two year warranty. Make sure the firmware is up to date and that you are using a class 10 SD card 32gb or smaller (I prefer 16gb). If you are using premium and the app make sure the time zone is set and that power save is turned on. If after you've checked all these things you still feel the camera isn't working properly then send it in to have it looked at. If there's something wrong you'll get a new camera or it will be repaired.

i've put in a request for a firmware update.....

It won't connect to the internet through WiFi, it's all cellular. You can do a manual update by putting the firmware on a clean memory card. If it has good signal it should update on its own after the request.

I have also seen memory cards go bad, can't hurt to try another

Here is a link to the firmware update page where you can download the firmware and there are instructions. You are doing the manual update and your camera has a menu option to do it.

    https://support.spartancamera.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010408073-How-to-update-firmware

If you do want to try the over-the-air update, you can force it. After you've requested it on the portal, put the camera in setup mode, allow it to get logged in, then take/send a manual photo (point camera at something, press OK to take picture, OK again to send it). After the manual photo has been send, you should see on the screen information showing the progress of the firmware update.

Also, without seeing the pictures of "fog", it's hard to know what triggered them, but you do realize that the cameras trigger on temperature differences moving across detection zones, not on visual motion?

I'm not sure what you meant about "put new batteries in it and it sent a crap load again". That sounds like it sent a lot of pictures, so it must have had a connection and battery power. A lot of pictures of nothing? Could you post a picture or two so we can see your set? We may see something that's causing the false triggers (if that's part of the problem).

What type of batteries are you using?

If you're using the app, you've verified that you have premium credits?

it tried to update but it said it aborted due to it being the same version.

when i put new batteries in it and got an internet connection, it just started taking pics, lots of them.

there was nothing to trigger them, earlier it was very foggy and there was nothing to see..  i have 3 premium credits remaining.

camera doesnt trigger on motion ?   let me keep playing with this thing and if it doesnt get better ill send this devil device to you to mess with.  lol

You don't have time lapse on or any start stop times set do you?

The camera is a cellular device. It does not connect to the internet. If yours is connecting to the internet, it is definitely possessed.

Cameras don’t “see”. They detect motion based on temperature difference (animals give off heat, the heat is detected as a difference in temperature from the surroundings) and that temperature difference moving across the camera’s detection zones. It can detect motion in dense fog because it senses the body heat moving.

On the info strip, what is the letter? (M, T, S, or E)

If you have to send it in, you will be sending it to Spartan Camera. Johnny and I are members of the camera test team so we won’t see it.

i know its cellular, my bad, but when you cant connect to either does it really matter ?  lol     the letters on the info strip are a mystery to me, cant find any info on them, it was a T, now an M..  it appears im not communicating with the camera through this site or my phone app because any request made just sits there  and when i try to change sensitivity settings, the camera stays the same unless i manually change it.. for some reason its now making constant cell connection, just cant make changes remotely...any ideas ?

Ok, the T on the bottom of the picture means time lapse is turned on. When that is on the camera will take a picture at the set interval whether there's something in front of the camera or not. That's probably why you were getting pictures with nothing in them. When you make a settings change it doesn't happen instantly, it get sent to the portal and next time the camera checks it by sending a photo or status report it should update. Now if you have a bunch of requests that you made that haven't happened yet it can jamb things up. Check camera management on the online portal and look and see if you have any pending commands. If you do cancel them all and try making the settings change again. You can force the settings change by making the request on the app while the camera is off. Then turn the camera to set up and once it finds signal press the Ok button once to take a photo and then press it again to send the photo. After the picture sends the settings update should happen. Double check in the settings that your time zone is set, that can cause a problem too.
