OTA (Over The Air update) (any camera on Premium)
If you are using Premium, the easiest way to perform a firmware update is Over The Air (OTA).
On the Status Report page for the camera, if the firmware needs updating, the word Update will be in orange. Tap Update , which will turn gray to indicate that you've requested the update, and the firmware should update after the next time the camera contacts the server. (Note: GoCams with late 2021 firmware cannot be updated OTA, they must be updated manually. Once they have been updated, they can be updated OTA for future updates.)

Using a computer
- Using your computer, go to www.spartancamera.com then SUPPORT > Downloads/Firmware or use this link: https://my.spartancamera.com/download
- Locate your camera model in the list. There may be several similar models listed so make sure you identify the exact model you have.
- Click the Download button beside the camera model and save the file to your computer or directly to an empty SD card, preferably one that was formatted in the camera. *** If there is no firmware listed for your camera model, please email support@spartancamera.com.
This short video demonstrates downloading and saving a firmware file to an SD card.
- If you saved the file to your computer rather than directly to the SD card, with an empty SD card (preferably one that was formatted in your camera) in your computer’s SD card reader, copy the file (which has either .BIN or .OTA extension) from your computer to the SD card. It should not be inside any folder on the card.
- Insert the SD card back into the camera.

Video instruction: download the firmware to an SD card using a computer
"File not found"
There are four reasons you may see this message when updating firmware manually.
The correct file name for GC-A4Gc2 is GCA4GC2.OTA.
- There is no file on the SD card.
Windows Explorer shows no firmware file on the SD card:
- The wrong file is on the SD card.
This is firmware for a GC-A4Gb.
This is firmware for a GC-A4Gb2.
- The right file is on the SD card but it has the wrong file name because it was downloaded more than once.
These are examples of the right file for a GC-A4Gb and three for a GC-A4Gc2 but with the wrong file names. In each case, there is a space, open-parenthesis, digit, and close-parenthesis. Even though they are FW files, the camera doesn't recognize them because the names aren't exactly what it is expecting. If you can't see ".OTA", from the Windows Explorer menu, choose View, then for Show/hide, check "File name extensions". Once you can see the extension, edit out the space, parentheses, and digit.
- A bad SD card. If you've confirmed that you have the correct file with the correct name and the camera is still saying that the file is not found, try a different SD card.
